UPDATED: APR 3, 2015 Pours black, tiny, beige-to-brown head. Aroma is EXTREMELY peaty and smoky, hints of dark malts. Taste is dominated by peated whisky notes balanced by a fair amount of sweetness. Black with a medium sized tan head, good lacing. Aroma is peaty, woody and scotch. Flavors of peat, woody, scotch and vanilla
Bottle sample at a tasting at Naama’s place. Thanks Naama. Black with a light brown head. Smoky peaty aroma with iodine. Sweet flavor with dark chocolate, peat, iodine, and a smoky burnt bitter finish. Full-bodied. A bit over the top, but still very nice.

Bottle 330ml, pours pitch black. Aroma is very complex, but it starts with a heavy smell of bandages, medicine, peat and old decayed wood. After warming up it gains some notes whisky with a hint of vanilla and some smoked wood, but still the medical stuff is dominating. Taste is medium sweet with a long lasting and a bit ashy bitterness. It tastes a little bit like a mixture of coffee and medicine. I got the feeling that it was forgotten and left in an old wooden barrel for ages. Very dry, heavy and oily. Alcohol is good hidden but the drinkability is comparable to petroleum. Strong peaty aroma, with some chocolate in the background. Pours black with no head, only some dissappearing bubbles. Taste is whisky, lots of dark chocolate, bitter finish. Quite dry altough full bodied. Awesome beer - if one likes peaty aromas and whisky. rzymol (118) - - FEB 27, 2015
Bottle, 33cl. It pours deeply dark with no head, just a remnant. Must be the barrel that took it away. The scent is unbelievable. It actually smells like a barrel with a very intense aroma of eroded wood mixed with whiskey malt (and I assure you that it is a *very* fine whiskey), peatbog, smoked caramel and dark chocolate. I could smell this beer for a day. And that?s just a beggining. One would expect that due to very intense barrel aromas the taste will be whiskey-dominated. But not only the base beer is there, it is up-lifted by the barrel aging. The wave of very sticky sweetness that tastes like extracted and concentrated whiskey-malt dominates the mouth but develops into lingering bitterness that crawls like a snake in the background. Meanwhile a very enjoyable dryness on the tongue and spicy touches on the mouth sides are perceptible. The aftertaste is very looong and built of bittersweet feelings that fullfils the mouth. Full bodied with oily texture is the one that leaves me completely overwhelmed. Amazingly complex and balanced drink, a combination of single malt whiskey, wooded barrel, roasted caramel and spices. Voor de liefhebbers van bier gerijpt in whiskey-vaten! Zwart bier met weinig schuimkraag. De geuren van hout, teer, turf komen je tegemoet. De smaken zij. Hetzelfde: hout, teer, turf en rook. Hier moet je van houden. In de nasmaak komt de smaak van whiskey naar boven. Heerlijke BA!
