Bottle at ACBF 2012.
Black coloured with a small beige head.
Roasted aroma of caramel, dark chocolate, whisky, earth and peat.
Roasted flavour of caramel and dark chocolate with notes of earth and peat.
Roasted finish. dEnk (4201) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAR 6, 2012
Draft @ acbf. Aroma is huge roast, coffee, liquorice and more. Thin layer of peaty ardbeg covering the whole. Nice.
Flavour is a nice balance between the beer and the whiskey. The roast had some smoke over it, the malt some peat, the coholate some wood. Nice one. 77ships (11908) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 5, 2012
Bottle @ ACBF 2012: pitch black with a small mocha head, smell is very heavy on the peat, chunks of peated earth, almost edging towards burned plastic, burned malts, taste is sweet upfront, molasses, chocolate, brown sugar, creamy malts leading up to a very strongly peated finish, idione, ink, peated earth, almost too much at first but once your pallet adjusts to it, it becomes very well balanced & you get both sides of this beer, thick, peaty body, low carb. very nice hybrid Barrelbelly (751) - BELGIUM - MAR 4, 2012
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2012 Quite flat. Smoked aroma and taste with sweet aftertaste. Not so good combination.
Aged bottle. More carbonation. Smoked and peated aroma. Taste coffee, roasted malts and strong whiskey aftertaste. Bontus (825) - Flanders, BELGIUM - MAR 4, 2012
Bottle @ ACBF2012. Pours ink black, a bit shiny. Peated nose, very strong one dimensional aroma’s, but in a good way. Chinese ink & soy sauce up front, something iodine like in it. Slick MF, a bit salty taste. Very balanced, more a Porsche than a Dodge Viper.

Smoked, brown, malts, no head. Something less pleasant at the aftertaste, and needs some gas. Not what I was hoping for. Ungstrup (39541) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAR 3, 2012
Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has smoke, whiskey, roasted malt, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of iodine, smoke, chocolate, alcohol, roasted malt, and soy sauce, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. yespr (49898) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAR 3, 2012
33 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small to no head. Aroma is tarish and burne dark malty. Sweet malty, tarish and dark roasted malty flavoured. Dry and roasted malty finish, lasting tarish note. BoBoChamp (5755) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 1, 2012
33cl, as Emelisse White Label Imperial Russian Stout ’Ardbeg Barrel Aged’, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2012, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex Stout, smoked/roasted and slightly alcoholic/sweet, heavy, yet balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive! JorisPPattyn (10218) - BELGIUM - FEB 6, 2012
No head, ink-black liquid. Superb woody-smoked Islay malt nose; peaty, phenolic, tarr and seasalt. Even more phenolic & tarry than the nose, but in the background, retronasal, an alcoholic fire of toasted and roasted malts is burning. Sweet black coffee notes. This is unidimensional AND balanced - rare! Warming, slick-viscous but not really thick MF. Oh, I know, I’m a s*cker for anything Islay and smoked. Even more thanks, thus, Kees!
