Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours very dark brown with a thick tan head. The nose is wood, earth, roasty, vanilla, toasted coconut and toffee. The taste is roasted malt, earth, oily, toast, caramel, creaminess, whisky, light peat and milky coffee. Full body, moderate carbonation and oily mouth-feel. A solid beer for sure, but one of least favourite of the series. I can’t say Bowmore does much more me either... Cuso (8935) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - AUG 21, 2013
Bottle, many thanks to Countbeer. Almost black colored beer with medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, wood, whiskey. Coffee bitter taste with roasted malt, caramel, whiskey, peat, wood. Coffee bitter finish. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Extremely tasty beer. Black, some dark brown foam. Oily and syrupy beer, low carbonation. Full body, very well balanced. Aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malts, oak and dark fruit. Very good! hansvf (924) - - AUG 10, 2013
Hele lekkere geur. Zwart, met koffiekleurig schuim. Smaak en structuur heel speciaal. Geen gewoon biertje dus maar heel lekker! Sureshpa (398) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - AUG 8, 2013

Nice barrel aged IRS. Has the typical strong roasted coffee taste and the whiskey notes. Not as mindblowing and complex as the first series of white labels though. shigadeyo (3790) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 2, 2013

7/07/2011: Emelisse Imperial Russian Stout (matured in oak for two months)... Aroma: Sugary vanilla, white chocolate, Appearance: Near black color with a definite purple hue; brown-colored crown; totally opaque. Flavor: heavily caramelized malt with a balanced amount of dark chocolate; green, leafy hops and associated moderate bitterness cuts through the malty sweetness; understated roasted coffee beans; lots of warming alcohol; dry and a touch chalky; a good dry, herbal bitterness sticks in the throat; caramelized licorice and tobacco flavors in the aftertaste. Palate: Medium to medium-full; average carbonation (maybe too much for the style for my liking), foamy in the mouth; fairly smooth; gets better as it breathes. Overall: Definitely a more traditional Russian Imperial Stout; really nice representation of the old world style; I like it!
10.14 fl. oz. bottle (11% alc./vol.; Tenminste houdbaar tot einde 12; Lot B). Rating #86 for this beer.

Overwhelming. On it’s own a fantastic stout but the aging in Bowmore barrels makes this an extra treat. Real creamy, coffee and chocolate like taste, with that sharp edge of the whisky. Fantastic! Bov (13264) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUL 22, 2013
courtesy of fiulijn - black beer with no head left; pretty toasted with fair Speyside-like whisky notes, black chocolate; full-bodied, quite thick and very tasty; very bitter, notes of ashes, whisky and caramel with a fair hop presence
