Borresteijn (7342) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 30, 2017
33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice, hint of leather, just light peaty, light booze, wood, caramel. Flavour is medium sweet to sweet, caramel, liquorice, hint of peat, light fruity, wood, boozy, bordering on green apples, roasted malts, bitter woody finish. Medium bodied, slick. Good, but far from their best, and not nearly as peated as expected.

330 ML bottle Pitch black pour, Dark brown head. Spotty lacing, falls to a thick collar. nose is dark, earthy, bitter chocolate, soft roast, smoke, peat, and iodine. Slightly medicinal and herbal nose. taste is a touch thin and sweet. Soft peat and more slightly sweet chocolate. Good balance between the two. Feel is slightly thinner than expected but more balanced between sweet and peat. Some flashes of roast. Dry roasty finish. Solid BA beer

Bottle from Mane Liquor, I really enjoyed the light peat aroma, earthy. Black as night with a thick dark rocky head. Heavy bitter aftertaste, which I enjoy. Unreal, I love it!

A strange imperial stout in that lacks depth and fullness for this ABV. Instead of deep roasty choc and coffee flavors this stout tastes kind of light and sugary. Predominant flavors are icing sugar and and subtle marzipan. Doesn’t taste very ’stouty’. With these lighter sugary flavors the peated malt does not work well and tastes a bit muddled.

sjogro (4405) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUN 7, 2017
Shared from bottle at puttetjes’. Black with tan head. Sweet roasted chocolate malts, mild peat, licorice, salmiak, some fruity almost tart berries. Big sweet, light salt and bitter. Over medium body and soft carbonation. Light and balanced aged palate. Nice roasty, and not too peaty.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Black with big dark beige head. Lots of peat, licorice, roasted malts, iodine, dark chocolate, roasted oak, sweet toffee, some vanilla. Over medium sweet and bitter. Almost full bodied. Very peaty but nice.

Bijl (742) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 27, 2017
Gitzwart, bruine schuimkraag met mooie lacing, iets koolzuur. Aroma: Donkere mout, vanille, whisky, zoetig, alcohol. Nagenoeg geen peat in het aroma. Wat fruitige tonen....donker fruit en rozijnen. Smaak: Roasty, donkere mout, ziltig, salmiak, jodium. Mooi in balans... mooie RIS.

(bottle) deep black-brown colour with a frothy dark brown head. aroma of toasted malts and sugar icing, with some light notes of coconut shavings, peat-smoked malt, fudge and mirabellenschnaps. flavour is mostly toasted malts, dark chocolate and sugar icing, slightly sweet, with lots of bolstering ethanol and vanilla in the medium roasted-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with average carbonation. so-so.

33cl bottle. Bbe 12/2022. Poured pitch black with a thin brown head. Nice smoke, peat, roasted malt, licorice in aroma. Nicely balanced. Gentle smoke, peat, hint of wood and vanilla. Som d whisky notes in the long finish. Really good. Warming finish.

Bottle from Saveur Biere. Deep dark brown beer, cola looking with small beige head. Aroma has lots of sugar, some roastiness, malts, light whiskey feeling and hints of coffee. Taste has sweet sugar and caramel with malts, some whiskey also. Low carbonation, medium+ body. A bit too one-sided.
