[email protected] Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is fudge, toffee, caramel, some liquorice as well as mild whiskyish notes. Flavour is liquorice, toffee, mild tart wood, vanilla and some slight notes of alcohol. Smooth and rather balanced.

(From notes 25 Oct, 2012) Bottle. Practically no head. The beer is almost pitch black. Aroma is sweet and wineish. Flavor toward a sweet soy sauce. Mouthfeel is watery, i.e. low viscosity, does not feel smooth/creamy as many others do. Finish is a alcoholic warming bitterness.

I realized while drinking this beer that I had a slight cold. I was not able to get the full experience. I suspect I would give this one a higher score when my left nostril actually lets air flow through it properly.

Bottle. Jet black color, beige head. Balanced aroma with whisky notes. Very nice balanced. Not too much whisky but it stays nice in background. Very nice!

Bottle @ tasting. Black pour. Aroma is subtle whiskey, well hidden in loads of roasted malts, nuts, caramel, vanilla, sugar, chocolate. Flavor is sweet chocolate, bread, vanilla and tobacco. Slightly warming finish. Really well balanced. Great aging.

magdalar (516) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - OCT 8, 2012
A wonderful concoction. Smells sweet, with molasses and a hint of toffee. Tastes very sweet, with a small bitterness, and a feeling of honey. Some dark berries, a black currant perhaps. Texture is silky. Mildly cloying finish. Very little carbonation. I could drink this as a desert for quite some time...

omhper (25349) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - OCT 6, 2012
Bottled, from Systembolaget. Completely black, small head. Fruity whisky and licorice. Mid sweet and full bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Tar, dark chocolate and licorice. Grainy aniseed finish with whisky heat.

Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Bottled. Poured very near black with just about no head sticking around. The aroma picked up toasty, slightly burnt, excellent whiskey over dark chocolate, ashy malts, and some licorice.. quite nice. The flavor found more sweet-ish whiskey, oak, and deep vanilla notes than anything else, with a bed of rich chocolates and charred black malts beneath.. back to the tasty whiskey over chocolate and a kiss of vanilla bean on the long, peppery finish. Medium-plus bodied with very little carbonation on the palate.. kind of a slick feel to it.. some very good components, but the barrel didn’t fully integrate with the base beer.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours black. Head is not present, just a small ring of brown lacing around the glass and oily lacing on the surface of the beer. Aroma has peat, coffee, cream, whiskey, slightly tone of acetone. Taste is sweet at first with cherries and figs , then roasted malt, some smoke, and a warm and lasting bitter, salty liquorice ending. Full bodied, smooth and thick mouth feel, low carbonation. A lot of flavours in this one. Interesting range from sweet, to roasted to the bitter salt liquorice.

Aroma is really good. The taste is good eniugh but the palate is not goid enough carbonation is simething it lacks, which makes its less than perfect
