BoBoChamp (5755) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 1, 2012
33cl, as Emelisse White Label Imperial Russian Stout ’Glen Elgin Barrel Aged’, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2011, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex sweet Stout, roasted/alcoholic and slightly spicy/malty, heavy, yet balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive!

Benzai (16569) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - MAR 17, 2012
33cl bottle @ Arendsnest Amsterdam, shared with Dutchdrebus. Pitch black opague color, small off-white to brown head that diminishes quite fast. Smell coffee, alcohol, whisky, wood, oak and a light sweetness. Taste dark and roasted, maybe even burned malts, alcohol and coffee plus sweetish-chocolate. Medium to full body, low carbo.

The smoothest of the bunch, the imperial stout is not overwhelmed by the cask. Smoky, but in a more discreet way.

omhper (25570) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - OCT 6, 2012
Bottled, from Systembolaget. Completely black, small head. Fruity whisky and licorice. Mid sweet and full bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Tar, dark chocolate and licorice. Grainy aniseed finish with whisky heat.

TET (3177) - Kaarina, FINLAND - APR 5, 2013
A black beer without head, only brown bubbles. Aroma is very intensive and powerfull, lots of salt liquirice and roastiness, some berries, sweetness and whiskeybarrel. Taste is also powerfull, lots of roastiness, salt liquirice and turf, balanced sweetness. In the afterteste turf and slightly smokey whiskey is more exposed. Surprisingly light to drink, only medium bodied, almost without carbonation. Intensive, beer and barrel are balanced, but still something is missing.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Dean Haag. Poured a deep mahogany colour with no head and no life at all. The aroma is rich, alcoholic and peaty. The flavour is strong bitter, with a rich alcohol, liqourice, roasted malt and coffee palate. It’s a super beer no doubt, but this one is more than a year old and i’m surprised it had no life at all, but the flavour was unaffected by spending a year in my cellar.

markextrae (4460) - Alingsås, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - OCT 23, 2015
bottle found in my cellar. poured a dark black colour with a small tanned head. nose has dark roasted malts with sweet bakers chocolate, burned caramel, vanilla, oak, smoked oak, salty licorice. ash. finish is a bit more dry compared to other versions. not their best version. maybe a bit to old.

Black colour with a beige head. Whisky and coffee nose. Rich complex flavour. A lot of everything. Whisky, espresso, caramel, chocolate. Nice!

erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUL 30, 2012
A very dark black body and creamy tan head. Rich matly aroma, milk chocolate, bourbon, sticky fruit and some alcohol. Rich taste, but the barrel aging makes it a bit thin. Bit milky mouthfeel. Sweaty overall feel. Alcoholic aftertaste. A very good base beer but the barrel aging doesn’t improve it for me. (33cl bottle)

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black, without head. Caramel, chocolate aroma. Roasted chocolate flavour.
