Bottle, 33cL. Home. Kindly given by Jaghana ! A pitch black beer with a medium creamy beige head ; good retention. Black chocolate, roast, toast, cat kibble (?), light wood, acid note. Medium round sweet, warming background, medium dry lasting bitter, sour note. Elegant body, medium creamy texture, soft carbonation, roasty lasting finish. Overall, great ! Disturbing nose (cat kibble notes) but once you get used to it, very drinkable. This is something different...

Bottle from ABC Beers. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin light tan head. The aroma is light medicinal alcohol, roasty malt. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, light sweet with a smooth, dry roasty malt, light ash tray, sweet fruit, alcohol bitter palate. Medium to fully bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle thanks to Nikos! Pours opaque black, small brown head, dissipates fairly quickly, some lacing. Aroma is rich, bourbon, chocolate, molasses, vanilla, tobacco. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, a bit boozy perhaps, rich and full. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, a touch of heat.

7.5cl sample at the Ghent Beer Festival VI (22 VIII 2015). Black to red coloured imperial stout, little foamed, from Emelisse, barrel aged on Heaven Hill. Very smoked and lots of peat in this tasteful stout. Not too heavy either, with little sweet and many malt flavours. Great.

0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’, best before December 2020. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish, slightly roasty aroma of dark chocolate, some coffee, vanilla and hints of dark ripe fruits. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and hints of dark ripe fruits, followed by a long, slightly roasty-bitter, a little warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, flat. Great balance, lovely bourbon notes without being too much. Delicious!

Great RIS, where the heaven hill adds complexity and flavors. Some roasted malts and peat, bourbon, oak, sweet fruits. Quite sweet and light bitter but the peat makes up for it. Great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
