Bottled. More or less black colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is some liquorice, alcohol and quite interesting herbal and grassy notes. Not that evident Sorachi Ace actually in combination to the IS elements. Flavour is liquorice, some slight ashy and roasted notes along with some floral and grassy notes. Pleasantly balanced. Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a vicious black colour with a big, dense tan head. Complex aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, liquorice and with some sweet fruity notes. Full, velvety mouth feel. Bitter coffee initial flavours with dark fruit and vanilla not far behind. Fruity hop notes on the palate with burnt malt finishing with warming alcohol.

On tap at Gbbf 2013. Very dark brown beer lasting tan head. Vanilla aroma. its amazing. I mean I donít like imperial stout in general but this is fantastic. Not stupid barrel aged good intense chocolate. Good imp stout. Inbreak (5797) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - AUG 8, 2013

Small brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet, dark malts, dark sugar, chocolate, licorice, coffee, cellar, mold, rubber, leafs. Taste is rich and sweet, dark malts, dark sugar, hops, oak, alcohol, licorice, coffee, grass, leafs, dark fruits, cellar, ashtray. Longlasting bitterness, dry and sligtly thick mouthfeel. Lots of Sorachi hops in this one for sure, really nice!
Weird beer, in a good way. Itís a typical great IRS with a taste of roasted malt and roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Yet, it also has some distinct hoppiness of th Sorachi Ace hop. Great balance. mile (3932) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 25, 2013
Bottle. Very dark brown - almost black, average and fully diminishing dark brown head. Full malty and sweetish aroma, roasted malt and some chocolate, some oak - vanilla and light licorice. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, roasted malt and some coffee. Finish is average to long, malty and sweetish, roasted malt and some coffee with light salty licorice, light vanilla and light hoppyness with light alcohol. Nice roasted IS, not too sweet (considering 11%), not too much coffee. The_Osprey (7881) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 22, 2013
Chilled bottle, poured into a snifter. Not that thick a pour. Head dies down quickly to form a scum but a little swirl brings it back up. Smell is hoppy, spicey, hints of lime and apple, boozey, lots of toilet cleaner/urinal cake in there too. Mouthfeel is medium, slightly foamy. Taste - some harsh chemical flavours here from the Sorachi Ace, which I think has been overused. There is a hint of some pleasant lime and coconut but itís overpowered with chemical. Harsh and unbalanced. Very interesting, but the end result isnít good. I would normally recommend drinking a hoppy beer nice and fresh, but I think that this one needs a long time to lose all of this harshness.
