3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2012 Bottled from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Ink black, small brown head. Unusual, but pleasant hoppy nose, some fruit, caramel, coffee, malts, raisins, absolutely outstanding. Flavor is less complex, initially somewhat malty with coffee, later predominantly hops. Bitter finish. I like the Sorachi Ace hops, but imho it would have been a bit more balanced with a little less hops. Nevertheless, still a nice beer.
330ml bottle from Sergiy. Pours rich black. Nose is sweeter than the regular and something else that I can’t peg. Flavour is certainly a degree different from the base. However I can’t quite identify the difference in words. It is however smoother. beerplace (1724) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 11, 2016
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2016 330ml bottle from 16th Street Liquor Store. Tasting with George. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is saddle, leather, molasses, toffee, vanilla, dark fruits. Same character taste and aftertaste with roasted malt and smokey notes. The sweetness in this beer is very good balanced. Excellent, incredible stuff! sjogro (4263) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - APR 9, 2016

Bottle a little while past bb date, shared. Black with short lasting bubbly light brown head that leaves a little ring of bigger bubbles. Lots of chocolate, sweet coffee, lots of red fruits, strawberries even, a touch of green onion, cognac, raisins, vanilla, fudge. Super complex. Quite sweet with nice roasted bitter finish. Almost full bodied with nice velvety feel. Very good. mariuspoenari (2724) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - APR 3, 2016
33cl bottle - best before 12/15, hence 3 months off the mark. Mahogany pour, with a thin and fine-grained beige head that is slow to rise to the surface. Smells of roasted malts, a bit of smoke, dark chocolate, cocoa, sour cherries and a bit of bourbon, as well as some bubblegum-like smell that can only be the Sorachi Ace. The taste follows the same notes, big on coffee and dark chocolate. Super smooth texture with a chocolate bitter aftertaste.

Fles gekocht @Melgers in Haarlem. Yorker (2007) - Herning, DENMARK - AUG 31, 2015
