Bottle from Minibar in Queenstown. Pours near black with a small tan head. Subdued aroma of roasted malt, coffee, hops, and earthy notes. Flavor was stronger, with roasted malt, coffee, hops, and a slight soapiness. Medium bodied. Smooth, sticky, with a bitter, roasty finish. This one has the potential to be better. bluebetty (1021) - AUSTRALIA - OCT 15, 2009

Bottle 500ml. Nice and robust porter. Aromas of roasted malt and coffee. Mostly sweet flavour, long lasting. Black in colour, with a thin white head. Medium-bodied with a sticky mouthfeel. snuffla (176) - Chch, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 12, 2009
Another from my tasting. Didn’t enjoy this one too much, aroma started off as black cherrys and chocolate cake then slowly morphed into a marmite and coffee cake. Thick and roasted in the mouth and a weird creaminess from the burps.

50cl Bottle, gift from a collegue who visited N-Z. Thanks Gijs! Black beer with a creamy tan to beige head. Odd salty aroma with strong notes of tar, burnt malts and seaweed. Not very pleasant, but it does give this beer an extra edge. Flavour is tar, burnt malts, slight sweetness, some salt/seaweed, some coffee powder. Roasted bitterness underneath from start to finish. Medium to fullbodied. Very nice porter.
