Caramel and toffee malts upfront, with some surpsingly light earthy bitterness following behind in the finish. Thin and watered down mouthfeell. Pretty inconsequential all the way around. kwoeltje (2234) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - NOV 25, 2006
Nice copper color with generous head. Head fades quickly but leaves nice lace. Mild hops aroma. Flavor is nicely balanced with some hops up front a a biscuit finish. kseecs16 (1216) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - OCT 2, 2006
UPDATED: FEB 21, 2007 From a fresh growler, this beer poured a beautiful pristine copper with a little off-white head. A nice mild sweet hoppy aroma. A bit bitter upfront, quite dry with floral notes. Finishes very crisp and clean. A great session brew. Headbanger (4021) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2006
Draft Brewpub Downer’s - Aroma of malts and hops on alight amber body. Taste of hops, citrus, and malt. Good tasty beer. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - MAY 7, 2006
Roasted malt aroma but faint. Clear amber with some bubbles and a white ring. Excellent lace. Has hops which is nice and pleasant, but doesn’t taste English or traditional. But, it is good. Something is a little off in the mouthfeel; the carbonation is spritzy and a little delayed. Pretty good though.

Draught sample at the Downers Grove location. Clear applejuice amber with a bit of creamy topping and some lacing...cider and butterscotch in the nose, not unpleasant but masking anything else going on....sweet, very malty, dry woody bitterness late, lots of tart apple character, unfortunate touch of metal to finish. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2005
Amber Coloring with White Skin. Sweet and Bitter Hops Aroma. English Sweet Malt and Wet Hops. Nice Even Keeled Brew. redlem (1306) - Ohio, USA - NOV 25, 2005
First this was the "seasonal beer" at the W.Dundee bar in Nov. The waitstaff was slightly ambigious with a description, making it sound like an IPA with the higher alcohol content for the long voyage story so I said sure I would like one expecting a nicely hopped ale, instead I got this sweet malty beer, not my cup of tea, so to speak. Not bad but not a style or taste I care for as the hops were not really noticable. badgerben (5316) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 20, 2005
Light copper color with no head. Light aroma of citrus, oranges in particular. The taste oddly switches to the sweet side with what I think is maple. Sweet malt base. Not sure what this beer is trying to be, but it’s tasty enough whatever it is. SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 9, 2005
On tap at Emmett’s in West Dundee... Orangeish darkish hazyness in color with a medium sized medium lasting white frothy head. The nose was citrusy peppery and the taste pretty caramel maltish. Interesting really, I didnt really think that I was going to enjoy this one but it really grew on me throughout the drink.
