Nice deep amber color. Faint hops aroma. Flavor is malt and hops, but also had a soapy flavor. MI2CA (1340) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - NOV 13, 2006
Pint at Emmett’s DG - Aroma of floral citrus hops with a malty back. Pours hazy amber with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor is the opposite of aroma with the malt dominating and the hops in the backseat. Palate is creamy. A nice amber. Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2006
Draft Downer’s Grove - No aroma on an amber brew. Not much taste but a little malt but very watery. Not impressed. sersdf (1020) - chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 10, 2006
cask at dundee. this was uninspired and flavorless. not malty enough to be an amber ale for me. served too warm, though that’s supposed to be part of the cask charm. easy to drink, but too much so. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - MAY 7, 2006
Faint caramel and butter in the nose. Clear amber body with visible carbonation and a thin, off-white head. Excellent lace. Lively carbonation on the tongue to some degree masks the relative lack of flavor. Devoid of distinction; not bad..just needs something more.

Draft sampler at Emmett’s West Dundee. Coppery and brassy color, with a thin lacy head. Toasty caramel malts, but still with a beer-geek-ilicious hop load. Certainly a northwestern hop style, but some English to it, too. A bitterness that stands up through the end of the glass. muzzlehatch (4959) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 31, 2005
Draught sample at the Downers Grove location. Hazy, dark amber with a lasting head and thick glass-coating lace...strong caramel in the nose, oaky vanilla and enough bitter orange to keep it on an even keel...delicate, soft body, sweet with light herbal and hoppy undercurrent, bit of cherry and toasty malts, and a just gorgeous full mouthfeel with gently prickly carbonation. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2005
Brown/Yellow Coloring with White Ring. Sweet Caramel Malt. Sweet, Bit Stale and Wet Hops at the End. Very Sweet Overall. Decent Amber. badgerben (5187) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 20, 2005
Dark copper color with no head. Dry hop aroma. Slightly bitter taste with dull, weak hops lingering. Not distinctive in any way, but a good session Amber. SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 8, 2005
CASK: Handsome beer, bigh head frothy with lots of sediment. As with any cask, flat warm and tasty. Low hops and some copper and malts here and htere. Overall pretty good, but I cant decide if it is because this is ’cask’ or because the beer is actually very good.
TAP: No head, clear, no sediment. Light nose but stronger and better than the cask. Overall, good but boring.
Cask gets a 3.2, tap gets a 3.4
