Quite possibly the best Hefe Ive ever tasted. All banana and clover in the nose. Banana and lemon/citrus with a sweet finish. I could enjoy this all the time. Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2007
This has a good looking hefe pour, a cloudy straw body with a tall sustained head. The aroma is bananas with (too much?) wheat, a hint of clove, and a zing of lemon. I thought the mouthfeel was more that of an American wheat than a German wheat, the carbonation a touch too harsh. The flavor had too much of the wheat flake to it, but aged bananas, spices, and a mild citric tartness grow in the taste as you continue drinking. Not a bad brew for the warmer days ahead.DrnkMcDermott (3104) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - MAY 21, 2007

Draft at Emmett’s, Downers Grove. They’d just put this on when I visited May 18, and ja, it’s pretty fresh. Very cloudy, almost dark yellow in a tall weizen glass. After frothing up under the tap, settles to a behaved, meringue-type head, with a lemony weizen smell. No need for a lemon slice on this one. Taste offers soft wheat texture, coriander traces, and that citrus zest, but it’s hit hard by banana and bubblegum. I’ll put that down to it’s being new; who knows how old the imported hefes I’d judge as "to style" were. Turns orangey toward the finish. Not bad. Would hope there are extra kegs mellowing out to sample later. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 17, 2007
On tap at Emmett’s - West Dundee. Poured a hazy medium golden with a well-retained cap of white head. Aroma was quite strong with grilled bananas and bubble-gummy sweetness.. hints of smoke and corn give a odd, but interesting character to it. Very sweet and toasty flavor with tangy banana and candy notes.. rather long, tart banana finish. Light-medium bodied.. very sweet with a decent mouthfeel. It seems like a lot of these local brewpubs are making some pretty solid German hefeweizens, this one is no exception. Tons of banana and sweetness in the aroma. Flavor I thought was dominated by bubblegum. Another fantastic beer from Emmetts.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2007 pretty damn good. tasted better than it smelled, there was a slight off-aroma. some banana, but both aroma and taste were dominated by cotton candy flavors. for $9 a pitcher this was phenomenal. RERATE: had a glass of this at dundee and it’s hardly a hefeweizen. alot closer to miller lite. SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 9, 2006
On tap at Emmett’s in West Dundee. So we go in wanting to try the new pils and the maibock and just as we are getting up to leave this guy walks in with the sign and tap handles for this beer. He hooks up the tap and puts the sign up. Well, I wish that I could say that I was the first customer to try this years batch but someone beat me to it.

Golden hazy with a big white head that was quickly discipating. The nose was full of bananna, yeast and grains. You could smell this thing from like 5 feet away. The taste was thick and chewy with malts yeast then more towards the end a swift kick of bitter hops. Wow, this is a Hefe!
Honey Haze Coloring with White Ring. Belgian Yeast, Coriander Aroma. Citrusy Notes, Banana, Belgian Yeast and a Light Wheat Aftertaste. Smooth Mouthfeel. Quite Nice. badgerben (5213) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - OCT 20, 2005
Hazy yellow color with a small head. Slight aroma of bananas. That banana really comes out strong in the taste, coupled with traditional wheat and yeast. Not really dry or sweet, but nicely balanced in the middle. Quite a nice little hefe! frankenkitty (2012) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - OCT 20, 2005
Bronzed-amber in color, well-hazed, capped with a creamy-and-holding head, leaving a thickish lace. Clove and banana are well-apparent in the aroma with a light hint of metal. Flavor is bready with the banana, spice and a hint of vanilla... very much like liquid banana bread, mmmmmm. Creamy body with a slight sour tingle to finish. Pretty danged good, if y’ ask me.
