At the brewpub in Downer’s Grove. Light amber color with small head, very floral hoppy aroma. Bitter finish, very hoppy. Almost too floral for my liking but a quality brew. joshiez (48) - USA - OCT 26, 2007
A really great beer. Poured from a tap at Emmetts, this beer came with a nice golden color, and a beautiful pale head. The smell is like a putting your face into a handful of hops. So strong! The taste was strange to me though. It was very refreshing, and I wanted to just drink the whole thing down at once. But when you actually put the beer down, you get the spicy aftertaste. It is bitter...not bad, but almost too spicy. At first its so captivating, but by the end of the pint, you just want to finish it off. I can’t imagine drinking a lot of this, but it is certainly a great beer. iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - OCT 9, 2007
Notes from the GTMW ’06. Yellow amber with a moderate eggshell head. Aroma of sweaty pineapple with toffee in the background. Not really that complex, but really good. The flavor added some pine and lemon zest and had a dry, moderately bitter finish. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Awesome beer I’d never heard of. thedm (6309) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - AUG 2, 2007
This draft brew from a cask on nitro from the brew pub poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent uncarbonated golden brown colored body and a very good lacing. The smooth aroma was floral and malty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of malt hops and floral.
CO2 was much better 6-4-7-4-15 as rated.
On CO2, it was much more crisp and hoppy with a stronger bitterness and tingle to the mouth feel . It was not nearly as flat as on nitro. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - JUN 22, 2007
(Tap) Pours a deep amber color with a lasting white head. Aroma reveals a fragrant blend of hops. Taste is similar, with a seemingly harsh, yet fleeting, bitterness. Smooth malt profile adds some balance to the beer, but it could use a little bit more. This is a good beer, but could be even better with a few minor fixes.

Had this one on draught at the ale house in Oswego, Illinois. Medium orange pour with a thick, white head, very floral, rosy nose, awesome hoppiness fading into a delicate, carmelly finish. Very good! Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 17, 2007
On tap at Emmett’s - West Dundee. Poured a clear lighter coppery-amber with a short off-white head. The nose found a delectable blend of juicy pear and grapefruit hoppage with a sweet toffee and caramel base.. just a wonderful aroma! The flavor department found sweet lightly-toasted caramel with boatloads of tasty hoppage around (pear, grapefruit, and faint pineapple representin’).. very well-balanced with a long, sweet pine finish. Medium-bodied with great balance.. moderate-high bitterness.. Excellent all around! RAYBOY01 (2010) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 8, 2007
This has a substantial PNW hop nose to go along with its attractive copper pour and moderate white head. The flavor is careamel malt sweetness, somewhat bready in nature, undercut by the bright grapefruit and pine hop bite. I think it can hold it’s own up against the big boys APAs out there. Pint at Emmett’s DG - Aroma is strong with floral citrus hops. Pours transparent amber with a small head and great lacing. Flavor is also floral citrus hops with enough malt in the back to balance it out. Palate is crisp and tart. A very tasty APA which reminds me of Alpha King (that’s a good thing!!). Draft Brewpub Downer’s Grove- Aroma of hops on an amber bodyHad a nice white head. Taste of hops and more hops. I agree with the previous reviews that this should be an IPA. Great tasting beer.
