Bottle at Chris and Ruths house after GBBF 2016, Thursday. Black beer with a decent beige head. Roasted malty aroma, caramel, some licorice. Malty licorice flavor, chocolate, some dark bread. Decent but thin and more like a schwarzbier.

Keg (nitro?) at the brewpub. Dark brown, red highlights. Large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, mild hops. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, tobacco. Medium bodied, smooth, tasty.

Sample at the brewpub. Brownish-black color with a medium foamy beige head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, coffee and chocolate. Light-bodied with flavors of burnt malt, coffee and chocolate. The finish is roasty with a mild coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.
