The color is a hazy dark yellow with an icy ring of lace. Dark yellow -- or a very light orange.
Strong grapefruity and citrusy (I was told Amarillo) hop smell. Very sweet and fresh. Really unique and sweet with a tinge of bitterness. Superior smell.
Impeccably bitter but citrusy flavor. Has a fruity hop at first, before a woody finish. Fruity hop character but also bitter and spicy. Excellent.
Feels bubbly and creamy, but easy nice and easy drinkin’. A strong and bitter/sweet brew. Only the strong bitterness might prevent repeats. Slipstream (2661) - USA - OCT 9, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2012 Draft at Whole Foods. Dark amber pour with a thick head. Light aroma of piney hops, yeast, and a touch of skank. The taste is very good - loads of sprucey, resinous hops that jump out, then back, then re-emerge in the finish. There are malt and menthol notes, along with some warmth and lemon peel. Very good IPA. This was my first from Empire and hopefully not the last. The craft beer scene in New York continues to grow. kenwall17 (232) - new york, New York, USA - JUN 29, 2011
A very solid IPA. Hoppy, but not overly so. Citrus-sy, but not overly so. Very refreshing! bbbeer (843) - Massachusetts, USA - SEP 19, 2011
Orange copper with small off-white head. Citrus and floral hop aroma with some grain background. Medium body, no alcohol. Nice solid bitterness, citrus, grass, and good balance of malt flavors which do not add much sweetness. Not bad, would have it again. hivemind (918) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Tap @ the brewpub w Ronnee on Feb 3. Pours golden-amber with white head. Piney, hoppy aroma, not very strong. Tastes of piney and citrusy hops with a good amount of grapefruit coming through. Not intensely bitter at all but great hop profile. Ronnee even enjoyed.

Keg @ Alewife, Queens. Pours deep amber with a small white head. The nose is light honeyed bread, some mild fresh citrus, grass. The taste is nicely balanced. Honey short bread, nice malt base with hints of yellow apple. There’s an assertive bitter hop presence in the finish. Light citrus and dried grass. Smooth, easy to drink. Overall, an accomplished, balanced IPA. cfrancis (3511) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 16, 2013
Pours cloudy golden with moderate white top. Aroma is floral and citrus hops. Taste is a bold up front floral and citrus hop bitterness with bready malts to help ease you out. Leighton (21839) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 21, 2010
Tap at Governors Island Brewfest. A rather English style IPA. Poured a mostly clear copper-amber with a medium, white head. Nose of earthy and piney hops. Some light caramel sweetness in the flavor, but mostly strong bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Could use a bit more sweetness to balance out the hop bite, I would say, but the hops still satisfy. GT (10001) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Growler from Whole Foods Bowery in NYC. Orange amber, clear with rocky foam. Sticky protein lace. Nose is floral, citrusy, easy Centennial or other 3C style American hops. Taste is nutty, citrusy, moderately sticky with full bitterness. Fairly aggressive but a typical, fresher, well done American IPA. No off character. On tap at the Half Pint, Manhattan - 01/03/12.
Golden/Amber colour with a thin off-white head.
Grapefruit and orange zest lead the citrus hop aromas.
Initial sweet malt flavour gives way to the citrus fruits, grassy notes and a good level of bitterness.
Medium bodied and a dry bitter finish.
Decent 6/7% IPA.
