Sampled at Tap NY 2015, 4/25/15, as Tog Grog, but I’m pretty sure this is the same beer

I wasn’t really a huge fan of this, it is a decent example of the style, but ultimately, the spice dominates everything else and the rest of the flavors are muted in comparison.
Dark fruit and spicy aroma and flavor. Bitter dry finish. Full flavored nice beer. Dark, but balanced and not sweet. Very enjoyable.

On tap at Pony Bar HK. Pours a translucent dark brown with a quickly fading white head. Aroma is all spice cabinet, some brown sugar, some malt but mostly nutmeg, ginger, black pepper, cardamom. Flavor is the same, lightly malty and sweet but mostly just a spice bomb. Full bodied, spicy finish. jredmond (8508) - New York, New York, USA - NOV 21, 2012

On tap at the brewpub, a new winter seasonal.
Dark brown with some off white head. Aroma is is roasted malt and spicy but also has a very strong medicinal/menthol aroma that is somewhat unpleasant and hard to get past. Taste is more spice and malt, but once again the menthol comes back on the finish.
Maybe it’s just my palate because a few other people around me thought that it was really good, but I couldn’t get past this strong minty flavor.
