4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/8/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head, with incredible retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pinapple, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a moderately slick/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and fairly smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours a hazy tan orange color. Full frothy head. Aroma is floral resinous hops. Medium heavy body. Medium heavy bitterness with big bold malt background. Seems like a barley wine/dipa hybrid or something. Itís a big beer and a hop mouthfull. Good but not great.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours golden, white foam. Aroma is resiny, with some honey and just smells bitter. Taste is intense, very dense with resins, hop oils and I donít know how many IBUís. Long resiny finish, lingers for long. Bitter and dry. Drinks surprisingly easy, could drink a pint of it - but look at the abv!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours cloudy copper color with foamy white head. Aroma is sticky sweet caramel with pineapple and dried papaya. Some alcohol aroma and floral notes. Thick syrupy mouth feel. Flavor is fruity up front with pineapple and caramel followed by citrus flavors and grapefruit. Finishes grapefruit rind and sticky pine resin. Big, big bitterness in finish. Leaves my tongue tingling.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
My 1400th rating. 12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy Amber orange color topped by a small creamy white head that disapates quickly. Nose is fragrant hops and alcohol. First sip is intense bitter hops. Huge pine and resiny notes. Wow, what a hop bomb! Where is the malt? As the brew warms, the alcohol and malt become more present. Notes of burnt sugar, grapefruit rind and Angostura bitters. As the beer warms, an underlying syrupy cognac-like goodness surfaces. An amazing ale. Go get one!

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from West Side. Pours a hazy late summerís gold color with almost no head. Lots of honey, orange zest and bready malt on the nose. Syrupy body with orange marmalade, honey and fresh-baked bread on the palate. Boozy, sweet and heavy with a strongly bitter (almost astringent) finish. Too much malt and not enough hop finesse to compete with the best in the new wave.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Bready malt aroma with notes of floral and pine resiny hops as well as a bit of earthiness. Pours cloudy copper colored with a large tan head that has good retention and some lacing. Starts with a little bit of bready malt before huge pine resiny hop flavors take over. Finishes very dry with bitter floral and earthy pine resiny hops dominating and coating the palate so the flavor stays with you past the end of the sip. Aggressive and quite bitter, but still quite good.
