Bottle. I usually don’t let a beer live up to its hype, but Black Tuesday held on to its name and much more. The pour was a dark chocolate color with barely any head. The aroma was sweet chocolate, highly roasted malts, some caramel, dark prunes and cherries, with some vanilla and oxidation in the finish. The flavor was very close to the aroma but with more oxidation, oak, vanilla, coffee, rich chocolate, and not too much of an alcoholic taste at all. This was a surprisingly well balanced beer that is far too easy to drink. More of this has to be made, as it is now one of the most complex, flavorful beers I have tried to date. Fine job, Patrick.

Z: mieszanka bourbonu i risa. Mocniejsza beczała (wanilia, kokos) nad czekolodowo-wisniowy butami. S: gęste, kokosowo-bourbonowe, dalej wanilia, slodycz, gruba intensywność. Finisz lekko kwaskowy wchodzi w wanilię z kokos, lekkie tanicznosc migdały i orzeszki nerkowca? Takie slodko-taniczne. Momentami niesamowicie waniliowo-kokosowo-czekoladowe.

Butelka. Barwa ciemno brunatna. Brak piany. Aromat powala. Mega bourbon, czekolada, migdaly, praliny. W smaku podobnie. Świetna beczka. Długie posmaki. Konsystencja odziwo niewysoka lepka. Alkohol w aromacie. W smaku świetnie ukryty. Top topów.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2018 2015. Kurde, fajne piwesio. Cudowne piwo.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2018 Aromat wyrazna beczka, alko, czekolada. Super. Wygląd adekwatny do procentów. W symie nie ma się czego czepiać bo przy takiej mocy tridno oczekiwać wielkiek piany. W smaku mega słodycz, praliny, wanilia, alko. Alkohol na finiszu ostry, ale przyjemnie rozgrzewa przelyk. Trochę zbyt wytrawna końcówka, jednak to kawał piwa.

(2016 bottle pour @ MBCC 2017 Yellow Session, Copenhagen) Pours nearly black with a tan head. Notes of massively sweet molasses, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, moderate bourbon, slightly burnt wood, soft roast, touch fruity, decently boozy, sweet sweet sweet. Finish is semi-sweet with lingering caramel, barrel and booze. Full bodied, thick and viscous with soft carbonation. Truly feels like diabetes in a glass. To be fair the flavours are nice and the concentration impressive, and while the alcohol isn't totally disguised, it is commendably minimized given the ABV. But the saccharine nature makes it tough to drink more than a couple of sips of, perhaps in part because of sampling before noon.

750ml bottle shared with friends last Friday for my birthday. 2014 bottle. Aroma: strong alcohol, licorice, molasses. App: dark brown, no head. Taste and palate: full body, liquoreux, light acidity with really strong alcohol burning finish. Overall: good but so strong! A bit too much for me. Burns quite a lot after each sip. Closer to a digestive than a beer for me. Good.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2017 Bottle shared by Alex A: licorice, alcohol, figs, bourbon, light chocolate. App: pitch black no head. T/p: full body with sweet finish of average long duration. Soft to moderate carbonation. O: this is more a digestive than a beer, boy this is strong. It's a good thing we shared it. The bourbon flavour are bold.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2017 Draught at the taproom. Dark brown color, no head. Bittersweet taste with dried fruits, nuts, chocolate, toffee, a bit of pine, oak and alcohol. Bittersweet finish with dried fruits, chocolate, nuts, toffee, oak, vanilla, bourbon and toffee. Exquisite imperial stout.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2017 My sister’s father-in-law, Jimi Sepúlveda, brought a 2016 Black Tuesday to go with our Thanksgiving knowing I will write about it. Black Tuesday is an Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels. The air yields bourbon, caramel, and dark chocolate upon the nose. The strong bourbon character and a whopping 20.3% alcohol content give a warm burn to the take. A touch of singed oak is experienced in the finish. The taste of dark chocolate is dominate from start to finish. Thick, raw molasses adds a layer to the dark chocolate. Caramel compliments the sweet molasses. A cherry bite is ventured right when you take a drink to go with the alcohol burn. Raisins harmonizes with the dark chocolate and deepens the body. A vanilla creaminess smoothens the take and finish. Black Tuesday is an wonderful Imperial Stout. The bourbon barrel aging leaves the feel of singed oak and an extremely strong alcohol presence with the Imperial style. The molasses gives the beer a sugary texture and blends with the caramel harmoniously. Raisins is a nice accent and more dominant as you keep drinking. Cherry brings complexity to the take and the finish. Incredibly strong, Black Tuesday is meant to be shared because 20.3% is outrageous. This beer is dangerously delicious and easier to drink to the experienced drinker. Cheers. Prost. Drink for the love of beer. For more beer reviews, visit my blog “Drink For the Love of Beer.”

750ml bottle at the November DC Ratebeer tasting - 2015 vintage? Poured a black oil color with not much, if any head. Maybe a small, wispy tan head. Aroma was light roast, lots of boozy notes, dark chocolate, roasted dark, bitter chocolate. Vanilla, bourbon, roasted notes. Wow, really really good. Thanks Donnie!
