While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

Can’t get enough of this fantastic smoked doppelbock. Pillowy head. Huge nose. The perfect taste of smoke and sweet deep malts. Rauchbier is an acquired taste for most. Once you acquire it you’ll feel like you’re in a secret club. Schlenkerla makes rich and profound beers. They are among the best. I drink this beer in 500 mL usually three at a time. It’s fantastic.

A beautiful balanced and smoky doppelbock. Dark amber, rich and delicious. A great cold wet night companion. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kein bisschen alkoholisch.

500ml bottle. Clear very dark amber with small beige-brown head. Aroma is typical Schlenkerla smoke with smoked ham, bacon and smoked pork as well as sweet dark bready malts and a light woody touch. Taste is sweet dark bread, wood, smoked ham, sootier campfire smoke and charred malts. Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation and charred malt aftertaste with almost sooty smokiness.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo. Pours red amber with a fading small white head. Aroma of smoked malt & smokey bacon, more of the same on the taste. Light/medium body. Great stuff

From bottle in dimpled mug. Pours reddish copper with off white head that faded quickly. Aroma of smoked meat that permeated the taste as well. Hallertau more noticable as it warmed. Rich & tasty with malt sweetness providing balance

Barwa brunatna, średnia piana, powoli opadając, pozostawia wyraźny kożuch. W aromacie drewno, ognisko, wędzone mięso. W smaku oczywiście chleb, zaskakująco słodkie, czuć trochę alkohol, są też śliwki. Wysycenie niskie, goryczka ledwo wyczuwalna. Pozostawia posmak ciemnego chleba i owoców. Raczej dość zaskakujące.

Bitek (752) - Warszawa, POLAND - JUL 31, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2017 Wędzona kiełbaska, dym z ogniska chleb, karmel, suszone owoce, ciut alkoholu. Półsłodkie. Sporo ciała, średnia goryczka i średnie do wysokiego wysycenie.
