Bottle I got for my birthday from my girlfriend. Thanks! Pours pitch black thick oily with lovely brown creamy head that started in two layers (lighter and darker) then merged into one. Lasted a long time. Aroma is wood, crust, malt and roastiness, with a hint of cocoa, hops and alcohol. Flavor is sweet, with a bit of bitterness, malt, coffee, cocoa, fresh milk, alcohol, hops. Alcohol warms in your mouth and throat but is not intrusive.

Bottle. Pours pitch black, with a big, rocky, mocha head. Aroma is dark roasted malts, with burned wood, aniseed, camphor, and caraway, as well as wooden barrels. Full, creamy body, with very soft carbonation. Flavour is dark roasted malts, with coffee, leather and wooden barrels.

Zlotta (3817) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - SEP 30, 2016
Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Pitch black with a light brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and hazelnut. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, hazelnut and some vanilla, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Very nice!

Koelschtrinker (21489) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - SEP 30, 2016
Malzig würziger, wenig alkoholischer Antrunk. Röstig, süßlich, vollmundig. Noten von Schokolade und Vanille. 10/11/11/11/11/11

haukur (2103) - Kópavogur, ICELAND - MAR 12, 2016
backlog at Mikkeller Viktoriagade in feb 15. Huge aroma if peated whisky, along with molasses, dark chocolate and some booze. Complex palate, loads of heat with slight hint of smoke, sausage, vanilla, peat, malts. Somewhat creamy compared to the original which is always a classic. Very nice.

Bottle - Vintage 2011 - Light Woody, nitty and roast. Jet black brown with a light brown head. Bitter, woody, astringent and roasty notes. Bitter sweetness with lots of wood.

12/10/2010 8:40:24 AM On tap at Beer Temple. Dark black with thin brown head. Nose is sweet and very much reeks of alcohol. Fruity too. Taste of chocolate and lots of lots of alcohol. Way too strong for my kind.

bytemesis (9231) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - SEP 26, 2015
Bottle, white wax, gift from Secret Santa. Pours opaque black, medium brown head, dissipates slowly, good residual and lacing. Aroma is cocoa, anise, molassesa and whiskey. Flavor is quite sweet, fully bitter, tons of cocoa and anise, strong whiskey with some smoke and peat. Rich and flavorful, a bit hot, but at 17%, its actually doing pretty good. Full body.

FlandersNed (396) - , Indiana, USA - SEP 18, 2015
375ml bottle from 4+ years ago. This is NOT the BA Black Hole (higher ABV & no coffee, different label, etc.). Big, rich, dark chocolate liqueur, prune, peated whiskey, oak & espresso flavors with a charred sugar and dried, dark, fruit finish. Heavy body and moderate carbonation.

PartyFowle (954) - - JUN 18, 2015
Bottle. Aroma of peanuts, smoky dark chocolate, wet wood, prune, vanilla extract. Extremely sweet and boozy. Flavor is equally intense, beginning sugary and layered with molasses, brown sugar and reduced prunes and plums. Intense oak character and roast bitterness settle in on the sides of the tongue.
