COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Bottle, courtesy of Toni, many thanks! Bottled 28.04.2010, as "Oude Kriek with Schaerbeekse Krieken". Pours clear ruby red with a little head. Beautiful cherries, yet not too strong, well balanced with the light funk. Some vinegar too, but in a working way. Body is light and sour, with the tartness present but not in the foreground. Fruity cherries, obviously. Palate is slick and more acidic than the rest. Still a very, very nice kriek. Ages well.

Bottle at the brewery. Lots of cherry character, well incorporated and balanced best with the rest of the character. Slightly cheesy, high carbonated, soft. Intense yet delicious. Great beer.

Deep dark red colour with bubbly small head. Aroma has lots of cherry, sweetness too and quite a bit of sour notes. Taste has lots of cherry, sourness is nice and punchy with some sweet berries too. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Hazy purple color with pink head. Aroma is bursting with sour cherries and cherry pits. Taste starts with sour cherries up-front, not puckering, very fruity and balanced with lots of cherry pit flavor. There is some farmhouse funk but its overshadowed by the intense fruit. Medium body with medium to high carbonation. Overall this is a very drinkable oud kriek, a good example of a true fruit lambic but not overly pretentious.

750ml bottle @ Alexs. 2005 Vintage. Pours a cloudy rusty deep dark red with little head. Nose is great cherries and some oak with a hint of funk. Flavour is light unsweetened cherries, and lightly tart. Just a smooth clean great drinkable special treat.
