750ml green bottle into Trappist glass. A cloudy brown beer with a medium sized creamy off-white head that laces nicely. Lots going on on the nose with yeasty peppery spices, cherries, plums, oranges, caramel, nuts, alcohol and a hint of coffee. Flavour is dry and bittersweet with those cracking hop spices coming through. Palate is medium-full bodied with a pleasant slick mouthfeel. Reminds me of a Rochefort 8 but more quaffable. An excellent beer from one of the best boutique breweries in Australia.
From bottle at Seven Sheds, Railton, Tasmania. Poured a translucent mid brown-red with a few mm of beige dense foam that diminished quickly to a blotchy cap that laced OK. Carbonation low, slow and fine. Aroma of sweet caramel; alcohol hidden. Taste of sweet caramel with a hint of spice and low bitterness; alcohol well hidden. Light body. Smooth with a lingering sweetness on the finish. mkel07 (6546) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 9, 2015
On tap at The Gertrude Hotel Fitzroy 210515. Quite a boozy beer this one with plenty of plummy flavours, almost port like. Big and thick in the mouth with a fnsh that wont go away. mattyhennessy (377) - Highton, AUSTRALIA - DEC 25, 2014
Pours a murky reddish brown with a beige head. Sweet bready aromas with loads of dried apricots and stewed fruits. Some sugary and estery aromas also. Taste is initially sweet like dark fruits and is quickly caught and outstripped by a lingering bitterness that is perhaps a little overpowering for me. Some roasty flavours with a litle spice. Well carbonated. One of the better Belgian style beers from this region Danev76 (505) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 1, 2014
Very mild aroma. Cloudy amber colour with heaps of head. Lots of mediteranean spices flood the palate early with a smooth malty finish. Medium to heavy body with mediun to high carbonation. orange_3084 (127) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 23, 2013
Dark hazy brown colour with thick, bubbly head and good lacing. Malty aroma, a little roasty with some hints of fruit, coffee and bread. Medium creamy body. Taste is a roasted sweetness complimented by some spice. Not too much bittering, just a fairly pleasant lingering finish.

Pours a beautiful golden amber, with lots of fine white head. Nose is of peach, orange, lemon and light floral hops. Very orangey, bitter finish, but not over the top or overpowering. Really wonderful. I wish I’d bought more. hawthorne00 (4191) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 26, 2011
Bottle, around 14C. Cloudy brown with a light beige head. Subdued aroma of dried and stewed fruits, dough, oranges, herbs. Taste is briefly sweet with dark fruit and sugars, rapidly overtaken by herbal bitterness. After a few sips, the yeast and fruits emerge again. Some hard spices (cassia?) and hints of plummy sourness. Dry and (maybe a bit too) bitter at the end. Pretty good and full of character. davidm (2081) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAR 25, 2011
Bottle 750ml. Masterpiece. Aromas of burnt caramel, bread, and nuts. Taste starts sweet, with bitterness taking over for a very long finish. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Brown, with a big frothy head. Threepwood (107) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 6, 2011
Dark tan to brown with a massive head, carbonation was way over the top. Some fruit notes on the nose, smells nice. Prickly in the mouth from the carbonation, sweet and perhaps some spice in there but it was really hard to judge. The alcohol seems a little out of balance perhaps. My judgement on this may be a bit skewed as I’m not really familiar with the style and not sure what I should expect.
