COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is it! The powerful, full-bodied, strong beer which is Andechss trademark. Brewed in the traditional Triple Mash procedure and available throughout the year, not just during the "Starkbierzeit"!

When the evening passes into dusk and the day draws to a close, time goes a little slower. Just the right time for a glass of Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel. Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel mouthcoating, velvety, strong This world famous bock from Bavarias Holy Mountain is not meant to be rushed, but savoured slowly. As solid as a rock, Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel presides over the evening meal with a colour reminiscent of dark copper with nuances of fiery red. Its clear gleaming look harmonises with its firm, fine pored head. Also the aroma delights the connoisseur: soft roasted accents and a nuance of dried fruit carrying a vein of caramel. This Doppelbock Dunkel from Bavarias Holy Mountain presents a pleasant effervescence. And then theres the unmistakable flavour: mouthcoating and velvety, strong and yet pleasantly malty a powerful, robust body. At the same time, it develops an easily recognisable sweetness, embraced in roasted cocoa and a light, bitter hoppiness. Concluding with a powerful punch, this Doppelbock departs with a lingering aftertaste of quality plain chocolate. A strong Doppelbock that embodies the centuries old Benedictine brewing tradition, sip by delicious sip (original extract: 18.5%, abv: over 7.1%).

Aroma: toffee and strong malt, hint of alcohol with a touch fruity notes. Appearance:perfect brown with red highlights, pours clear with a perfect tan brown head leaving thick sheet lacing. Flavour: oh WOW malt with immediate hop balance (not expected but brilliant) followed by mocha toffee complexity. Palate: thick and nicely carbonated leaving the hop and mocha finish.

Pours a dark red with a off white head that dissipates quickly. Has the aroma of bread, and a bit of cherry. It started with an overwhelming sweetness but as it warmed it became malty. There is a lingering after taste that is annoying to me. Over all I like the beer except for the aftertaste taste and its not as "chewy" as I thought it would be.

0,5 l bottle. Pours dark ruby red with a finger of rocky tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is huge malt, caramel, toffee, chocolate, dried fruit, resin. Taste is medium sweet, not overwhelming though, light bitterness. Body is medium to full, but it does not feel heavy, texture is smooth, carbonation is average. Finish is long, quite sweet, caramel and resin with some light bitterness. Overall very balanced doppelbock, very smooth, rich and easily drinkable.

Ruby-brown color. Great malty aromas of baked dark rye bread, red berries, a little bit of roast. Nice rich flavor. Super malty. Some chocolate, roast, a bit of herbal hoppiness. I expected it to be sweeter, but it is actually very balanced and complex. Medium plus body, but easy to drink. Medium carbonation. Lovely beer.

Draft Half Pint at Battersea Beer Festival, London in Feb 2010 - Ruby Red colour. Very Malty; toasty/roasty malts, lots of caramel and toffee, chocolate, hint of coffee, nuts?. Very Fruity; dark fruits, plums, dates, some spice. Sweet malty fruity throughout leading to a dry slightly bitter finish. Nice beer! (2010-02)
