(Bottled; enjoyed from 10cl whisky glass at Teerenpeli in Turku) Pitch black, with a small but thick light-brown head. Looks very much like espresso! Sweet vanilla oakiness, cream sherry and heavily roasted malts in aroma. Amazingly smooth flavor of sweet vanilla, heavily roasted malts and cream sherry, with notes of bourbon and mocha. Smooth like velvet, generous body, mild carbonation. Absolutely, totally, 100% orgastic. Seriously.

At Teerenpeli, Helsinki (from old notes). Black pour with tan head. Dry porter, has bourbon, licorice, and boozy tones. Definitely stacks up to bourbon aged stouts. Oak and bourbon tones are dominating.

Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma of vanilla, tar, licorice, cocoa and some bourbon notes. Flavor of licorice, bourbon, tar, dark roasted malts and dark chocolate. Very nice.

sample from a bottle @ Teerenpeli, Tampere. Rated on 26.02.2010
Aroma has whisky notes, some vanilla and roastiness in the background. Flavour has oaky notes, somewhat stinging whisky, vanilla, roasted notes and hints of coffee. Also some stinging alcohol occurs on some sips. Too thin for an whisky barrel aged beer.

tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - JUL 6, 2011
Pours beautiful pitch black with no head in a small Teerenpeli tasting glass. Aroms is dark fruits, port wine, very fruity, smokey, malty, apple cider and sweet. Thin, velvety, yet almost fullbodied mouthfeel. Flavor is sweet apples, tar and smoke, oak barrel, bitter, roasted, caramel, almonds, vanilla and spicy. Finishes with a fruity apple, bitter dry, almondy vanilla and peppery aftertaste.

At Teerenpeli, Helsinki (from old notes). Poured black with virtually no head. Rich aroma consisting of whiskey and smoke. Roasted notes and vanilla with some (oak) wood in flavour. Pleasant bittersweet aftertaste.

10cl glass at Teerenpeli Turku. Slightly whiskey, rosty and malty nose. No head and very low carbonation. Dark reddish black colour. Slightly whiskeyish taste with some malt and hoppiness. Also some syrop. Balanced.

1 dl sample from flip top bottle (Teerenpeli Turku)
Dark opaque color, not much head to talk about. Caramel, dark fruits, vanilla and tiny hints of whiskey in the nose. Quite flat mouthfeel. Medium-bodied. Vanilla, milky-lactose flavors, toasted maltyness. Finish has alcoholic whiskey punch and licorice. Way too simple for being Jim Bean cask aged porter, as such, a big dissapointment. I heard that the first batch of this beer was much better and I believe it.

Kavu (4885) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 26, 2011
Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma is roasted malts with a very slight hint of whiskey. Flavor is mostly roasted malts too. A bit disappointing.

nandoo (11) - wezembeek oppem, BELGIUM - JAN 25, 2011
Black body, brown head. Roasted flavours, some aniseed, some sweet port like aromas. Flavour has a strong sense of alcohol, but not in a bad way. Some ashes. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel.

100 ml from a 750 ml bottle @ Teerenpeli, Kamppi. Rated @ 6.3.2010.
Pitch black colour with a very small brown head. Very, very sweet on the nose with roastiness, chocolate, licorice and vanilla. The taste is also very sweet and smooth with vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate and oak. Jim Beam doesn’t come through too much. Well balanced. Full bodied, oily texture and low carbonation. Pleasant and 100 ml is just enough.
