COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edwards well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward. 13.5P, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Draft. Massive hop aroma - fruity/grassy fresh hops jump out of the glass, grapefruit, pine sap, cut hay, and a very pleasant sweet malt note in the background. Pours hazy, light orange color, white head with good retention and lacing. Flavor is packed with fresh hops. Sticky resin, grassy, grapefruit, light tropical fruit. Malt profile is very nice, light biscuit and graham cracker, pleasant (light) background sweetness. The hop and malt profiles work very well together - both add their own unique flavors without becoming messy. Bitterness is medium-high, but the malt definitely helps support this. Light-medium body, soft texture, medium carbonation. Excellent beer - glad I was able to try it.

Keg at The Farmhouse, Burlington. Cloudy golden, mid sized head. Passionfruit, grapefruit and starfruit up front. Bone dry with light-medium body and clean mouthfeel. Cucumber and starfruit, some pink grapefruit. Pleasantly dry, but a bit hard and edgy. Mid bitter finish. If there is any brewery usually living up to a hype it is HF. This beer however doesnt, yet it is pretty good.

On tap. Pours cloudy light yellow with a one-finger, white mostly lasting head that leaves good lacing. Light fresh aroma of grass, hay and citrus. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet, fairly dry body and finish, light to medium body, well balanced with a light touch. APA doesnt get any better.

On tap at the brewery. Poured a very hazy, opaque light yellow orange with a small white head. Aroma of pine and some faint bitter grapefruit. Taste follows, dominated by bitterness with a hint of pine. Searching yields some faint orange rind. Yeasty light mouthfeel. Slight biscuit in the finish. Clean with no off flavors but other than that did not stand out for me in any meaningful way.

Pours a hazy golden color with a thick white head. Nose of heavy citrus, grapefruit, tangerine. Taste is sour from the citrus with a medium bitter finish. It tastes like a fruity juice. Medium body. Excellent.

On tap at Fools Gold. It pours a light orange color with a creamy off white head. The aroma is a little herbal with some weed and lime. The flavor has more orange tea, weed, some flowers, melon and citrusy lime. A little honey and graham cracker-like maltiness. Solid citrusy bitterness. Really nice.

Thanks Adam! Spectacular beer. Pours a muddy dull golden with a ton of foamy white head. Big aromas of fresh melon, bubblegum, biscuits. Flavours are similar. Grassy, bread, fresh melons, bubblegum. Dont know how a pale ale can get much better than this.
