To create Utopias, the brewers at Sam Adams used traditional brewing ingredients including all four types of Noble hops, which add a slightly earthy, herbal taste. The spiciness of the hops really comes alive. In fact, Utopias MMII has even been described by some as almost "fiery" -- a fitting description for the strongest beer in history. Beyond the special brand of hops, Utopias features ingredients that truly set it apart from other varieties of beer. Utopias MMII contains caramel and Vienna malts for its rich amber color and several different types of yeast including a variety found in champagne. $100 a bottle and it's limited to 3000 bottles, which look like copper brew kettles.

10th Anniversary Edition Bottle share ---> OmegaX
Appearance - Deep ruby, clean
Aroma - Maple syrup, bourbon, vanilla, oak, cherries
Taste - Cherry syrup, vanilla, wood, brown sugar, honey, warm

Man, I can’t thank Jordan enough for this one. This one thins the line between beer and liquor. The taste and aroma were so sweet and luxurious, as if a fine cognac were in this glass. Finished sweet, mellow and warm with a satisfying burn. Yes!!!!

Bottle @ Dobry Zbeer, Poland. Pleasant aroma of pistachio, just like fresh grinded nuts with notes of dried fruitiness, some noble caramel touch and cognac-like hints. Deep copper in the glass, almost none head. Taste is semi sweet with notes of dried fruits, caramel cake, noble alcohol which fills the palate very well and some nutty back. Beer is very complex, maybe alcohol is too aggressive, but 27% ABV doing its best. Not sure if it’s perfect, but that’s a unique brew.

Bottle, thanks to Fombe. Dark copper colour with no head. Dense. Smells like something between a sweet wine, sherry and brandy. Sweet, caramel, wood, raisins, vanilla taste. Full body. Amazing.

[email protected] Pours dark brown, hazy, no head. Rasins, green walnut, grapes, plums, dry fruits, cocoa, vanilla, wood, barrel. At first strong alcohol, immidately disappearing. Sweet, little sour. Great experience. Full body, no carbonation.

2012, 10th anniversary edition. Botle 9443. Stated above 29% ABV. Buffalo Trace aged, also port and rum barrels.
Pours flat dark amber-light copper, dense, viscous, Lots of sherry and bourbon reminescences in nose and palate, lots of wood, raisins, ageieg notes, vanilla, cacao, mighty malt bill, extremely sweet, smooth and ewell balanced, everything well integrated. Uf this can be called a beer, this beer is the closest to liquor i´ve ever tried. Unforgettable.

Samuel Adam’s utopías 10 th anniversary Ed 2012 botella 9443.

Bottle at home in Hackney - shared during the 20k tasting. Pours clear amber-brown with almost no head. Awesome aroma, pretty huge, with definite alcohol, buckets of dates and figs, some brown sugar, toasted malts. Big sweet flavour with a certain kick of alcohol burn, modest oxidation, some raisins, leather, soft earthy bitterness, dried cranberries, more bread, toffee, liquefied dates. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with soft carbonation. Hot finish, with lots of golden raisins, more toffee, fruitcake, vanilla, raw alcohol, some woody dryness. Overall, this is a crazy beer. And, it is really fun to drink in small amounts. There’s not much like it.

Bottle at Leighton’s gaff. Massive thanks to MR 201k himself. It pours oily, dark red - amber with no head. The aroma is rich, oily, varnish, raw alcohol, light oxidised vibe, toffee, vanilla, plum and fruit compote. The taste is rich, slick, oily, plenty of tangy fruit, jammy, marzipan, bakewell tart, warming alcohol, fruit compote, wood, toffee and port wine with a boozy and warming finish. Full body, limited carbonation and slick mouth - feel. I was surprised just how good this was. Great stuff.

Bottle shared with dad bought at Lcbo A: alcohol, figs, port, strong molasses, raisins, some chocolate. App: hazy dark brown no head. T/p: full body with sweet finish of average duration. Alcohol is dominant, like a fine spirit. O: we’ve been searching for this for a long time. I’m really glad to try that one with that guy that brought me into the exciting world of microbrewery. It’s different, strong complex. In all honestly I didn’t enjoyed it that much but I can only salute the brewery audacity. In final, one more check on the bucketlist.
