Bottled from the monastery, tasted side by side with a regular Quadrupel and Oak Aged batch #9. Ruby colored, small head. The port notes emerge immediately pouring it into the glass, very powerful, fruity, oak, combined with all the other features that are already in a normal Quadrupel, absolutely fantastic. Very complex yet smooth fruity flavor, oak, raisins, malts. Lasting fruity finish. By far the best Oak Aged i’ve had so far, immensely complex, yet very smooth and balanced. Please, make this version again!

Faathoven (105) - Barcellona P.G., ITALY - JAN 6, 2017
Pours amber, slight hazy with whitish head. Bunch of dark fruits in the aroma, dates, raisins, plums, figs, plus red wine, soaked oak, belgian yeast characteristics from the fruity esters and kinda mead notes. Very complex flavour that is just the same of the nose. In the back end I got some tannins bitterness which balances nicely, and a slightly dry finish asking for another sip. Smooth, medium to full body and almost an oily texture mouthfeel. This is huge!

Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Clear, dark brownish amber with an off-white head. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, honey, vanilla and some raisins. Moderately sweet, malty taste of caramel, honey, lots of vanilla and some raisins, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, moderately warming finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty, incredibly round.

22/XII/15 - 37.5cl bottle from Geers, Hopduvel or the monastery shop @ Tim’s Amazing La Trappe Oak Aged Series Batch 2 Through 13 Tasting - BB: 5/I/17, blended: 26/VI/2010 (2015-1754)

Note: after hoarding the oldest of these beers for over 5 years, I decided to crack down on them, before they disintegrate.
Clear amber beer, small creamy beige to yellow irregular head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of vanilla, oxidized, sweet, fruity, some alcohol, honey, floral notes. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, lots of vanilla, honey, little bitter, pretty oxidized. Aftertaste: sweet, honey, orange peel, spicy touch.
