Speedway Stouts ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beers dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stouts fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Pours almost black, massive brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, other nice dark flavors. Heavy sweet, quite toasty and roasty, coffee. Nice oily texture and absolutely full bodied. A fantastic beer; its just perfectly balanced with nice aromas and flavors

Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of coffee, some dark fruits, chocolate, caramel and a touch of licorice. The taste was similar to the aroma with more coffee, chocolate, licorice and dark fruits. Awesome.

A spectacular stout! Pours a perfect chocolate brown color. The aroma is coffee mixed with chocolate and fruit. A clean stout with a nice amount of bitter sweetness. Overall, an awesome beer!

Got the last bottle on the shelf at Total Wine on my most recent trip to Frisco, TX. The 750 ml black bottle pours a regal black body followed by a generous milk chocolate-colored head which laces nicely, a road map of the trip I am taking. The nose is rich with red berries, dark chocolate and burnt toast. The taste is a slam dunk, very full. It jumps out with the dark chocolate again, coffee, ripe plum, black licorice and a touch of hard candy sweetness. Superb. Distinguishes itself from other quality imperial stouts with a unusual, appealing bitterness throughout. This is what makes top end imperial stouts so fine. They are the same but they are different. They are different but they are the same. Really pleased to have the chance to consume this one.

Draught at Alus Celle, Rīga. Darkest brown, almost black. Very little visible carbonation, so the appearance in ominously flat. Coffee dominates the aroma, but its an earthy, papery coffee. The real thing. Syrupy sweet taste, again dominated by the coffee but it never jars. Some salted caramel in the finish. Slick body with only a small amount of carbonation. An impressive and simple imperial stout.

This is absolute maximum for non-barrel aged IS. Coffee, roast and chocolate and perfectly balanced. Some plums and cherries are also present. A must-try beer.
