Rating #777, bottle from Toft Vin. Black beer with greenish-brown hue and a very dense, stable, beige coloured head - and probably the only beer I have expierienced, having a higher head three minutes from the pouring moment, than it had one minute from the pouring moment. Furthermore, is leaves beautiful lacings at the glass when drinked. Very fruity aroma that definately underlines that this is a porter, not a stout. Hop aromas are most of all peach and raspberries, mixed with mildly roasted malts. At some moments the aroma turns almost IIPA-like, but of course with a bunch of dark malts. Honey is traceable in the aroma, but not dominating. Flavor has honey, lots of chocolate, raspberries, a fair amount of oranges, grapefruit, mild coffee and a bit alcohol, all ending in a rather bitter finish with just a notch of smoke and ashes in the final aftermath. The honey is more obvious in the taste than in the aroma, but still not the dominating factor. This job it leaves to the delicious chocolaty nuances and the still-present flowery and orangey hops. Palate is close to perfect; round, soft, creamy and smooth - almost silky at some points - but still strong and thick enough to make the manifest that this is an imperial porter. 8,2 % ABV is not traceable in the classic alcoholic manner, but is underlined by the warming feel and just a bit in the aftertaste. This is mastering of the art of brewing!
0.65l bottle from De Bierkooning. It’s really really dark this. I want to go so far as to call it pitch black there it lies in the glass and it has a nice medium sized heavy lacing dark brown head. Smells amazing. Really sweet and caramelly with both strong espresso, thick licorice and a strong powerful roasted touch. I get lots of sweet vanilla here also and traces of smoky campfire in the back. Lots and lots of aroma here! It’s not as sweet in the taste as it was in the area, but it’s definitely as roasted and smoky. And then some! It really feels like I’m drinking something black, and I guess I kinda am. It has a thick oily feeling in the mouth while it’s just above soft on the carbonation. It has lots of dry chocolate and dry cocoa powder this. It licorice and dark really strongly roasted espresso tones as well. The smoke really comes to its right now the aftertaste. Sipping at this it disappears way to quickly. (Three Floyds Amon Amarth Ragnarök) Bottle 650 ml at home, served into a snifter. Sitting on the shelve for three years at least, I had forgotten about this.
Black coloured body, one finger of light brown head on top, quite thick and with very good retention.
Aroma of chocolate, cocoa powder, light liquorice, faint hints of oxidation that actually add something, faint roasted malts.
Sweet taste with lots of chocolate, no sighs of oxidation here, cocoa, light roasted malts, vanilla, well hidden alcohol, only a touch of honey.
Medium thick body, good carbonation, slightly sticky on the palate.

Bottle via extra from emacgee (thanks!) shared with Andrew and Brendan. Pours a deep murky brown body with thin brown lacing. Aroma is cocoa, light chocolate and soft roast. 01.24.2015 Bottle courtesy of James w/ him and Andy. Aroma is nice, chocolate, little bready malt. Dark pour, light tan head, medium mouthfeel with kind of a sticky character. Bottle at Zwanze Day 2014. Pour is deep brown with a small tan head that quickly dissipated. Bready, light honey, come cocoa, graham crackers, and slightly hoppy aroma. Taste is somewhat bland - some roast, a touch of coffee, some bread and twangy. Thin body with medium carbonation. This one has definitely not aged gracefully. Would have loved to try it fresh. Bottle. Pours near black with a lasting and lacing frothy brown medium head. Aroma is grass, roasted malt, licorice, spruce, hop soup, burnt malts
and smoke. Taste is moderate sweet and heavy bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is moderate. Finishes dry, quite hoppy, roasted and very bitter.
