4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a cervoise goblet.
A: Pours a jet black with a very dark brown bubbly head. Dissipates into thin film that leaves a great lace down the glass.
S: Big coffee upfront with a nice sweet chocolate. Roasted malts and a nice toasted cracker taste.
T: Again with the coffee and I love it. Coffee grounds with a semi-sweet bakers chocolate and toasted malt throughout the middle. There is a little bitterness from the hops at the backend, but it finishes very sweet.
M: Very smooth and delectably creamy on the finish. Little bitter chocolate on the finish that mixes with the coffee. Perfectly carbed as well.
O: Why must these be so good and only sold through the fall? Just like KBS this is an amazing beer and I can’t wait two weeks until the CBS release. I’ll just leave it at the notes I made when I was finished. "Yeah, awesome."

Jet black pour, toffee head. Coffee & dark roast malt in the nose. Sweet. Middle is velvety chocolate, coffee, and oats. Finish is more of the same with some hop bitterness signing off. Alcohol is well cloaked. Hopmaestro (1749) - Örebro, SWEDEN - NOV 13, 2017
Aroma is deep roasted malts with cold coffee and dark chocolates. Taste is medium bodied full flavored stout. Cold brewed coffee, smooth oatmeal mouthfeel, light salt and light tobacco as well. A treasure when you have the cravings for pro-stout, but don't wanna break the 10% barrier. When you're having your brekfast for example. sauvintipper (5) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 13, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2017 12oz bottled 9/01/2017 8.3% ABV 60 IBU poured into pilsner glass. Out of the fridge this stout is coffee and coffee over coffee and chocolate, too much coffee for me! I let it warm up to room temperature and found it a bit easier to drink. Very disappointed on my first bottle, perhaps a bit over-hyped. bpreo (2943) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - NOV 8, 2017
It’s no “Imperial Breakfast Stout”, but it will have to do. It’s a finely flavored Stout, holds up against all competition. RickFifty (1399) - Fredrikstad, NORWAY - NOV 3, 2017

.Appearance: Pitch black, motor oil, small brownish tan head that dissipates quickly.
.Aroma: Powerful scent of roasted coffee upfront, gourmet ground coffee, toffee/caramelized sugar, but mostly just a very rich, beautiful coffee scent.
.Taste: Roasted coffee, raw coffee bean, very slight warming alcohol, very nice malt sweetness giving way to an earthy bitterness, the bitterness builds into a very long finish, lingering on the palate.
.Mouthfeel: Luxurious cream like texture most likely a result of the added oats, carbonated just right, very smooth.
.This beer is something else. A coffee lovers dream, but so much more. It's done right. Right amount of bitterness. Perfect subtle sweetness. Long, smooth finish leaving a delicious taste that won't go away. Everything you can ask from an imperial stout and then some. Coffee bomb.

Wow. Of all the stouts that are described to have coffee in the flavour profile, this is the one that lives up to that.more than the rest I've had. Pours black. Coffee aroma, savory nose carries into a savory flavor, very much tastes of coffee with some dark chocolate just peeking through, giving way to oats. It's tastes as it's pitched, chocolate coffee oatmeal. Savory as opposed to sweet, perhaps mature tasting is a good way to think of it? Leaves a long, pleasant aftertaste. I'm glad to finally get my hands on this, it's a masterful example, and lived up to the hype. ffaoe (910) - Moorestown, New Jersey, USA - OCT 28, 2017

This one was aquired in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks, John!
This pours from 12oz bottle a near pitch black with a very small tannish head of foam that dissipated quickly. I took the bottle straight out of the fridge so I'm going to take my time in enjoying this brew.
The smell has some nice roasted malt and I'm also gettting some dark fruit and toffee.
The taste, wow, to start off with, this is a very thick and chewy stout translating to a very nice mouthfeel.
I'm getting lots roasted malt and sweet malt goodness that is followed up by notes of coffee and coffee bitterness but the thing is, although it's so darned loaded with flavours..oh, there's the toffee I noted in the nose and there's some good chocolate *and* hot cocoa presence as well...anyway, I'm equally impressed with how smooth it is to drink and how well the alcohol is hidden. This one has drinkabilty written all over it.
A few more sips in and the flavours haven't diminished one iota but sadly, the amount of liquid in my glass *has* and that makes me sad. This is terrific stuff! And...I'm having it for breakfast; how apropos. The finish for me is both bitter and sweetish and the aftertaste lingers on and on.
Bottom line: I finally got the chance to try this highly touted Double Stout and it did not fail to impress. It's a MUST try for those who don't find it in their local market. meccahh69lol (349) - New Haven, Connecticut, USA - OCT 25, 2017
An old favorite and the first and still the best Founders beer I've had yet. It has a rich, complex aroma with notes of heavy dark cocoa powder, some coffee roasts, and a hint of smoke. The appearance is thick brown black with a thin brown head. The taste is a smooth whirlwind of coffee, oatmeal, some chocolate of various types, and just enough smoke to prevent total consensus with the garbage water crowd. It is very smooth drinking and can help the conversation flow smoothly and freely when used in moderation on a second date with a very cute person. Good for a rainy days and make out parties and the overlap twixt them both.
