This beer was everything I hoped it would be. The rye used to brew the beer gave it a great palate and character that supported the aggressive, but taseful (and tasty!) addition of peppercorns. This is the kind of beer i could drink almost any time. It has enough flavor to sip by itself, but is light enough to enjoy with many foods, and especially cheeses. Attractive amber color with decent head. Nice transition of flavors from sweet to aromatic to spicy....just like the description.
I would have liked to see a more pronounced bouqet of pepper in the aroma, but otherwise a perfect peppery rye beer. If only these dieu du ciel beers weren’t so darn expensive.
An interesting attempt, it is supposed to be spicy, it is. You really taste the peppers.

Small bottle from Liberty on The Drive in Vancouver. A brownish orange beer with moderate whitish head and faint vegetal nose. A curious mix of aromatic spices not unlike pumpkin spices; i.e. clove, cinnamon, nutmeg. No hop or malt detected. A bit of a hot and peppery aftertaste. 3.4

Pours a dark brown body with a thin head. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is rather flat and dominated by malty flavours.

Couleur rouge/brune bien propre, mousse onctueuse qui tient le coup. Au nez ça fait un peu penser à du bâton de cannelle. En bouche les poivres viennent directement chatoyer les papilles pour ensuite leur donner de bonnes grosses bouffées de chaleur. C’est assez dingo comme sensation pour une bière, et ça donne envie d’en boire en compagnie d’une bonne viande. Pour le reste, c’est pas amère pour un sou, c’est relativement rond et légèrement malté avec une petite note de caramel en fin de bouche. Une bière bien surprenante.
