0.33l bottle from April 2011. You might as well call it a jet black one, and it has an impressive medium sized tan and lasting chocolate top. The aroma is lovely roasted with strong concentrated soy sauce, licorice, a dark sweetness that I have not nosed in god knows how long along with strong gunpowder and watered down campfire. This smells absolutely fantastic, and it seriously does not have much to go on this.. The carbonation level is average+ with a soft, thick and oily mouthfeel. Really roasty and almost burned in the taste. More of that campfire, but there is also vanilla, coconut, rich chocolate, salty licorice and more gunpowder. One helluva imp stout this! Lingering chocolate-roasty aftertaste, and the salty licorice? Oh my! Havent had that flavor, and so much of that flavor in my mouth since the first time I tasted Dark Reserva. Its been a long time since Ive tasted a beer like this. Mindblowingly tasty, and this is not far off the best imp stout Ive ever had. 09.11.2012

Bottle with thanks to Ben! Pours deep black with a medium creamy tan head that dissipates slowly and laces well. Aroma is loaded with licorice and blackstrap molasses along with deep roasted malts and some cocoa. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium plus bitter, rich and roasty, deeply molasses forward. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. This is pretty much as good as it gets from an old school adjunct free imperial stout. Kudos.

Pours very dark brown with a good head. More carbonation than I was expecting. Aromas of Raisins and figs and molasses. Smells like PX sherry! A touch of malt develops on the nose. Body is luscious and thick! Initial Taste is Raisins and sherry again but then some smokey notes develop. The finish is liquorice, molasses and a touch of Pumpkin. This is good but a lot more like PX sherry than I would like from my beer. As such I find it a bit sickly and I drink a lot of imperial stouts! Bottled in Dec 2011, opened in Feb 2016
