COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From label: 2011. Malty and complex, this big beer has a strong caramel backbone supporting oak and whiskey flavors with hints of dark fruits. The nose wafts coconut, toffee and a smooth hint of alcohol. The flavor and aroma merge, becoming one after a single sip. There is a touch of bitterness and it will age well. ----------------- Additional notes (not on label / from brewer): Dry Dock Brewery will only produce 120 cases of this beer. it will be released the first week of October. Bligh’s Barleywine Ale will be only the second seasonal beer that Dry Dock has bottled. Its first, Apricot Blonde, came out in June and will be off the shelves by the end of September. A third seasonal, Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, is slated for release on November 14. All are sold in 22-ounce bomber bottles.

Deep garnet, little head. The nose is mostly booze, bit of toffee and dark fruit. Really sweet flavor, dark fruit, really amazing. One of the best barleywines I have ever had.

On tap at Hops & Pie. Deep, dark brown appearance with a fully dissipating tan head. Rich aroma of vanilla, caramel/toffee, light chocolate malt, toasted oak, light bourbon and a hint of dark fruits. Similar flavor, rich, smooth and balanced nicely. Thick, full body with soft carbonation, a creamy feel and a smooth, sweet finish. Excellent.

Bomber, 2016 vintage. Rich sweet caramel malt and dark fruit aroma with notes of whiskey, toffee, warming booze and a hint of coconut. Pours mahogany colored with a very thin tan head that has no retention or lacing. Starts with excellent caramel malt and dark fruit sweetness with a bit of toffee as well as rich, full body and smooth mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with whiskey and vanilla flavors with a nice amount of warming, comforting booze at the very end. Excellent barleywine for cold winter nights, however I’d happily drink this anytime.

Pour a clear mahogany brown, with not head at all. Aroma has some very nice barrel character to it. Abble wood, cinnamon apple pie, caramel, burned sugar, dark fruits. A whole lots of malty stuff going on. Taste is pretty sweet, with faint hints os fruity sourness. Medium body, slightly watery mouthfeel. I was pleasently surprised by, really nice and comforting.

2014 bottle split 2 ways. Had this for the first time at the Darkness eve bottleshare and loved it. Pours a deep brownish crimson red with no head a a few bubbles here and there. The nose has soft bourbon notes and baked apples, caramel fudge and hints of booze. The taste is well rounded and all flavours are totally integrated. Not a trace of hops.. Christmassy english style BW. The mouthfeel is soft but alive. Really one of the best barleywines I can remember trying. Really well balanced with an elegant aftertaste. Thanks once again to Ryan for introducing me to this and sending a bottle to Denmark.

Bottle @ Steasy’s. Thanks for sharing! Hazy amber pour with a small off-white head. Plenty of almond. Sweet, slightly earthy marzipan character. Mild chocolate and stewed plum. Flavor is rich and well balanced. Sweet forest fruit, elegant chocolate. Toasty nut. Full and fat. Wonderful.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy reddish brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruity, toasted malt and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

22 oz bottle 2013 vintage from adnielsen shared with the group. Pours a hazy caramel brown color with a thin beige ring. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, vanilla, coconut, dark fruits, very fruity, apricot, this is exactly what I like in a barley wine, sweet, caramel, barrel is well integrated into the base beer, solid.
