Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacob’s wash, we’ve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! It’s in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Bottle shared with Labfrogg. Plum, raisin, coffee, a lot like Port aroma. Pours dark black with quickly dissipating tan head that almost boils away. Cascade of flavors. Coffee, bourbon, molasses, dried fruit. Simply amazing. The best beer I have had to date. Thanks, bro.

Nose is sweet bourbon, chocolate, caramel, candy, taste is very sweet, chocolate, huge caramel, maybe little vanilla, sweet bourbon, a bit peanut butter, could be thicker and more complex. I would prefer less sweetness. Although palate is very pleasant with uniquely balanced bitter-sweetness, dominating caramel, long lasting aftertaste. But I know beers with more complex and interesting and longer aftertaste and thicker body. Very good dessert beer category.

A big thanks Tony for that one!

Helt fantastisk. Smakar massor av burbon. Dock lite väl spritig.

Bottle @ Wally’s. Robust aroma of vanilla, caramelized brown sugar, campfire smore, mocha. Chewy mouthfeel, warming heat hinting at bourbon. Rick flavors layed on thick: black malt, fresh cookies, burnt brown sugar. Finishes with lingering campfire smore and bittersweet chocolate sweetness. Bold and sexy, rather than subtle and suggestive, this is the ultimate celebration of bourbon aged brews, though arriving at a market filled with others similar in nature.

Bottle. This is a big oily, bourbon scented, booze bomb of a beer. Nice wood, fig, and raisin floavours coming through. Lots of alcohol warmth. Worth a try.
