Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacob’s wash, we’ve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! It’s in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

Bottle shared with Labfrogg. Plum, raisin, coffee, a lot like Port aroma. Pours dark black with quickly dissipating tan head that almost boils away. Cascade of flavors. Coffee, bourbon, molasses, dried fruit. Simply amazing. The best beer I have had to date. Thanks, bro.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate cake, licorice, soya sauce, muddy bourbon, and dark caramel malts. Rich flavors of same with emphasis on caramel and bourbon barrel. Thick and a bit hot - but heck it’s 17%. Wonderful stuff,

Pours a jet black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, roast, molasses, caramel, toffee, and some booze, though surprisingly not hotter for the high ABV. Flavor is bourbon, vanilla, bread, chocolate, roast, caramel, toffee, and molasses. Leaves a warming sensation. Smooth, soft carbonation. Great!

The aroma is dates, figs, a little vanilla. Pours dark brown almost black, with tan head mostly diminishing and very good lacing. The taste is sweet and bitter. The body is medium/full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long. This is fresh not aged, a little sweet but lots of flavor, no noticeable burn from the alcohol percentage. VERY GOOD!

Jet black pour with a thin espresso head. Aroma is full of chocolate with a bit of oak. A little smokey too. Hint of booze in the aroma. Lace present. Huge mouth. Flavor is very complex. Roasted malt, chocolate and a little bourbon. Slight high alcohol/solvent like character. Burns in the mouth a bit. Extreme beer indeed.

Aroma is sweet roasted malts with licorice and bourbon. Wet wood. Taste is enormous but still being under control. Robust and distinct chocolate, dark roasted malts, bourbon drenched raisins and probably one of the thickest stouts I’ve ever had. Still it’s dangerously drinkable and goes down a little too fast. I bid you goodnight!

Bottle pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up molasses sweetened dark roasted malts, chocolate and mild booze. The taste delivers smooth sweetened dark roasted malts, chocolate, some chocolate fudge, black licorice and modest restrained booze. Solid sipper

Bottle from systembolaget. Opaque black color with tanned head. Aroma has bourbon, sweet malt, caramel, dark fruits and licorice. Taste is malty with long sweet aftertaste. Flavors of sweet bourbon, caramel, dark chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla and oak. Very strong but still very drinkable with very nice silky mouth feeling. Complex and strong one but alcohol still not dominating at all. Sweet but not too sweet. Very nice.
