neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, - FEB 22, 2013
375 mL bottle at Churchkey in Washington DC, served in a snifter. Pours black with a minimal number of tan bubbles. The nose is beautiful, with bourbon, oak and charred notes, along with roast malts, molasses, herbs and perhaps a hint of peat. The flavour is quite sweet, with chocolate, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Subtle hops are present, but in the minority. Roasty, oaky vanilla notes develop towards the end and linger in a long, roasty, chocolatey finish. On the nose it is full in body with a creamy-syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is truly an amazing imperial stout. A beautiful composition with subtle vanilla, chocolate and oaky bourbon. One of the best out there. 2012-06-09

Bottle at Viktoriagade. Pours an opaque black with a tiny beige head. Smells of licorice. Sweet and dry with aromas of toasted malts and caramel. Also notes of alcohol and a bourbon. Plus soy sauce hints. Full bodied. Medium to soft carbonation. Dry and sweet finish with more bourbon.

PhillyCraft (6451) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 29, 2016
Backlog, Bottle, pours a deep black with coffee head. Smell and taste are heavy bourbon, char, chocolate, espresso bean, wood, and vanilla bean. This one def stings at the 19 percent. A small pour was more than enough.

Zlotta (2514) - Hagen, GERMANY - SEP 30, 2016
Sampled from 0.375 l bottle. Pitch black with a beige head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and vanilla. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and some licorice, followed by a medium long, rather warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice, but also very alcoholic.

Intensiver malziger Antrunk, lig. Alkoholnoten, die Holznoten fallen zurck, das Bier wirkt eindimensional. Okay. 10/8/8/9/12/8

Pours a very viscous-looking close to black body with a tiny, short-lived head. Sweet and intense aroma of dark roasted malt, dark caramel, chocolate, coffee, bourbon and liquorice. Intense flavour of alcohol, dark roasted malt, dark caramel, chocolate and coffee. Moderate to heavy sweet taste with a fairly heavy bitter and long-lasting finish. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice brew, but would it have been even better if the ABV had been lower?

375 ml green bottle, capped. From Vinmonopolet. ABV is 19.3%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Intense aroma of Buffalo Trace whiskey, vanilla, oak, molasses, fusel alcohols, dark chocolate and roast malts. Intense and warming mouthfeel. (Bottle) Black colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted, woody nose with notes of liquorice, soy sauce, strong black coffee, bourbon, vanilla, tar, salmiac and oak wood. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with strong black coffee, liquorice, soy sauce, tar, bourbon, vanilla, lots of wood and a strong, vinous finish with a generous coffee bitterness. Full body (or rather massive), with a certain sweetness. Massive stout with lots of bourbon and oak and a fair amount of warming alcohol. Not very subtle, but very nice stuff.

Bottle 0.375l. Absolutely black body, small tan head. Aroma of oak barrel, roasted cocoa beans, dates, raisins, cherries, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, bourbon. Taste is neutral to bitter-sweet. Dark chocolate, bourbon, dark fruits -mostly wild cherries-, cocoa powder, dates, toffee, hint of vanilla on background. Full body, really silky smooth texture, low carbonation. 19% abv is unbelievable.
Glorious!
