375 mL bottle at Churchkey in Washington DC, served in a snifter. Pours black with a minimal number of tan bubbles. The nose is beautiful, with bourbon, oak and charred notes, along with roast malts, molasses, herbs and perhaps a hint of peat. The flavour is quite sweet, with chocolate, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Subtle hops are present, but in the minority. Roasty, oaky vanilla notes develop towards the end and linger in a long, roasty, chocolatey finish. On the nose it is full in body with a creamy-syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is truly an amazing imperial stout. A beautiful composition with subtle vanilla, chocolate and oaky bourbon. One of the best out there. 2012-06-09
Bottle. Pours black with a nice brown head. Aroma is chocolate, booze, toasted malts, bourbon, wood, dark sugars and cheese. Taste is heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a mineral note. Nice brown fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet mineraly, dark malts, oak, mild bourbon, chocolate, dark sugar, bark, minerals, vanilla, booze, weeds. Taste is slightly sweet boozy, dark sugar, weeds, minerals, booze, oak, bark, bourbon, vanilla, paper, burnt sour coffee. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly watery and harsh boozy mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottle at Viktoriagade. Pours an opaque black with a tiny beige head. Smells of licorice. Sweet and dry with aromas of toasted malts and caramel. Also notes of alcohol and a bourbon.
