COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all – it must taste rare!

Yep. This is top notch. Had to break the bank after reading some of these reviews. Motor oil black with a decent dark brown head. Pretty indeed. Huge roasty aroma full of chocolate, licorice, molasses, coffee and vanilla. Long roasty bittersweet finish. Lots of roast, mocha, vanilla and caramel. Big viscous mouthfeel, oily and slick with creamy carbonation. Delivered on all accounts. Big but not overly sweet, balanced and complex.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 16 oz tall boy can. Coal black pour with a thini mocha colored head that leaves light lacing. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, and a wee bit of alcohol. Flavor is full io chocolate, has some marshmallow notes, a hint of coffee and some vanilla to round it out. Excellent roastiness - espresso-like. Rich, creamy mouthfeel. Me like, best Impy i have had in a while, no soy sauce!

Can at home. Pours black with a medium sized copper head. Aroma has sweet caramel, coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet roasted coffee and cocoa with some booziness. Full palate. Really nice!

App: black, vert little head. Aroma: mainly coffee and dark chocolate, also rosty notes, noble alcohol, if you can call it that. Taste: loads of dark chocolate and coffee, maybe plum in chocolate. Palate: low carbonation, medium sweet, with rather full body, which is to my taste, unfortunately with alcoholic finish. Overall: Not very interesting, but I like sweetness and body, but as I said - not so much going on there. All in all it's just okay, but nothing more than that. I was expecting so much more, again...

I like this better than the port version. Nice roast and rich. Kind of the quintessential beer of the style.

Aroma: alcohol, red fruits, roasted malts, dark chocolate. Appearance: olily black with nice baige head. Taste: very alkoholic, full body, creamy, coffee, chocolate, a bit of red fruits, low carbonation, nice bitterness. Overall: Great beer but my can version was unfortunatelly very poorly matured, alcohol was overwhelming.

W zapachu duużo kakao, czekolady i czerwonych owoców (luźne skojarzenia: żurawina, wiśnia, różane nadzienie z pączków, granat), może nawet lekko estrowo. Gładkie, dość słodkie, ale bez przesady, nie jest mulące.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20C). Can 47.3 cl - Batch unknown (BBF 01.07.27). AROMA: medium-high roasted aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee, molasses and faint dried grapes. medium-low sweet background. faint mettalic note. APPEARANCE: black color and opaque. medium moussy brown head with good retention. lace formation. TASTE: medium-high roasted malt presence with a sweet note (chocolate, coffee), followed by medium bitterness. vinous alcohol presence. finishes dry and roasted. PALATE: full body with a luscious texture. medium-low carbonation. smooth alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a very good imperial stout with everything required.
