22 oz. bottle. Bottle 101/817. Black pour with a coffee colored head. Aroma of chocolate with the burn of chillies. Notes of cognac, booze, fruit, boozy fruitiness. There are some mild notes of coffee, cherries. Flavor is sweet chocolate and heat from the peppers. The chillies burn your lips a bit. Strong, boozy sweetness from the cognac. Notes of grapes, coffee, chocolate. I keep coming back to the heat on this beer. Much more impressive that the previous de muerte DL. Thick, oily palate with heat in the finish. This is the truth. Easily one of the best barrel aged varient if not the best barrel aged varient of Dark Lord I’ve ever had. Stunning.

[ Red Wax - Bottle 236/817 ]. Clear dark black brown color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark malt, alcohol, cognac, mild smoke - chili fruity - earthy. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long long duration, sharp, alcohol, cognac, chili warm, dark malt, chocolate - roasted, finish is hot chili. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish is light alcoholi and hot chili. For me way to hot chili and unbalanced...

Bottled at TNOD(U)RBSG2016. Black, minimal head. Mild smokey chili and milk chocolate up front. Very sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Vanilla, chocolate and interesting ancho chili heat. Bell pepper, sugar, chili, vanilla and licorice. Severe chili burn in the finish. Chili and alcoholic beverages usually mix badly. Der vollmundige runde Malzbeginn wird jäh durch scharfe Noten unterbrochen. Die Malzigkeit ist definitiv hintergründig, die Chilinoten sind zu stark, zwar nicht untrinkbar, aber doch so stark die Aromen dahinter zu zerstören. Sampled from bottle @ Danish Ratebeer Gathering 2016, Ulfborg, Day 2. Opaque pitch black color, no head. Aroma is ok: malts, sweetness, cognac barrel. Taste is pretty bad, malts, way too alcoholic, way too much chili peppery burn for me, undrinkable imo. Not good.
