ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS. Huge funked out coffee bourbon fun. Really tons of espresso! Chad is the postmodernist of Brett beer. Constantly re-contextualizing how we understand what brett is, what it can do, and in what situations it is appropriate. Just like WWBG, showcasing brett in the IPA world, this bad brew showcases its ability to make big beers that can handle big flavors.
Pour on tap at the brewery, thick black pour with tan head, aroma is big dark fruit, coffee, green espresso bean, some oaky tones with vanilla into whiskey, lactic acid, some sour fruit notes with a touch of earth. Taste is a mix of chocolate, coffee, roasted bean, hints of dark fruit into slight vinegar, lacto, some funky tones into a bit of oak, whiskey, slight sweet molasses, finishing bitter, tart. Great brew. Ratman197 (15100) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUN 22, 2014
On tap at The Barrel Room poured a translucent dark reddish brown nearly black with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, dried fruit, rye, bitter chocolate and light oak. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry tart finish. Flavors of roasted malt, rye, bitter chocolate, oak, coffee and light fruitiness with a smooth dry tart lingering coffee finish. On tap at the barrel cellar. Deep brown, black pour with a big brown head and great lacing. Big roasty, coffee, tangy, red grapey, oaky, roasted caramel, cinnamon, and cocoa in the aroma. Taste is tangy, red grapes, toffee, whiskey, red wine vinegar, beeries, fruit skin, roasted espresso, and oak with a lightly sour roasted finish. Medium body with soft carboantion. Really cool variation on Nightmare and probably the best version I have had.
