This one is fantastic. I had it once and I was really looking forward to having it again. It introduced Schwarzbier to me. It pours black or dark brown and smooth with a faint brown tint and a beige quick disappearing foamy lacy head. Smells great. Roasted malt which comes with coffee and caramel then moves to a fruity backberry with cherries and dried frutis like raisins and some general malty sweetness with spices. Sweet. Smooth body with medium carbonation. Starts with a caramel malt and liquorish herbal, roasted malt, with a soft rost dry hop finish. Smooth to drink. Bold taste and sweet malt in the end the coffee roast lingers in the mouth. It gives a new meaning to lagar. Should be more like it. Excellent.
Bummer of a schwarzbier, aiming for dark and roasty but coming off more fruity and bitter, lacking much by way of chocolate or deep roasted malt notes and instead offering up a weird red apple center laced with espresso and floral Euro hops. Hints of toffee underneath the apple, but never develops the typical heavy black lager traits you want. Pours a dark, dark brown with a slight off-white head and minor lacing. Nose has faint notes of chocolate and yeast. Good sparkly texture, but otherwise a letdown. tgrtnr (321) - Augsburg, Bavaria, GERMANY - NOV 12, 2017
330 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with decent head. Roasted malt, burnt bread crumbs, cocoa. Medium bitterness. Soft carbonated, full bodied, creamy texture. Easy to drink and refreshing. Nice. dzenkalpic (86) - TURKEY - NOV 10, 2017
Arpa kokusu, fazla asidi olmamasına karşın asidik arpa tadı alınıyor. Koyu aroma, yudum alındıktan sonra ağızda metalik tat bırakıyor. azzurro (414) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 10, 2017
A better than average beer worth trying. A bit in the same league as the Isseki Nicho from DDC, but hands up the DDC. Luneylane (233) - Taipei City, TAIWAN - NOV 6, 2017
A bottle from the basement of Shinkong Mitsukoshi, opposite Main Station. Aroma: yeast, nuts. Appearance: cola, 1mm. tan lacing. Palate: medium-bodied, rather sticky, soft carbonation. Malty, pleasantly chewy finish. Taste: medium sweet and bitter, well balanced. Nuts and chocolate at the finish, not bad, refreshing.

BrewWhatIWant (293) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 23, 2017
Pours black with a fluffy beige head. Aroma is light roasted malt. Taste is a little sweet and a little bitter. There are notes of chocolate, roasted malt and herbal hops, all of which are fairly restrained. Light bodied with low-moderate carbonation. A rather dry clean malt profile for a dark beer with a crisp hoppy finish. None of the overly heavy dark malt typical of many dark German lagers but nothing that really grabs your attention either. cazort (568) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 18, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 28, 2017 Can. This was surprisingly good, given it was from a can. Very subdued flavor, quite dry, only minimal sweetness, low bitterness and sourness. Caramel-like aroma but without the sweetness. Aroma is slightly malty, only hinting at roast, and with little in the way of hops. Crisp carbonation mid-sip gives this a cool, refreshing quality. Aftertaste is full but clean. There isn't that much range of characteristics in German beer styles, but I found relative to other Schwarzbiers, this seemed drier, lighter-bodied, and fresher / cleaner tasting. Very pleasant and easy to drink in quantity; I liked how I felt after drinking it. JaKeAFC (1278) - ITALY - OCT 18, 2017
Tap at Tasca. Black color with a big tan head light persistence. Aroma of dark malts, some charcoal and wood, grass. Taste a bit flattish, fairly malty, light to medium body. Clean finish. voyageurmike (508) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 16, 2017
Bottle, pours dark red brown. Thinnish medium body, faint chocolate nose. Watery milk chocolate taste and brief malt finish.
