COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Huge malty, alcohol forward nose - powerful and rich. Beautiful golden brown color. Tastes like a tawny port in a beer bottle. For being 120 IBU and supposedly the hoppiest beer in the world, it isn't really that hoppy. The high alcohol really rounds it out and brings more oaky, malty flavors. I did age it for about six months, so perhaps that toned down the sharpness a bit (although when I first had it on tap, I noticed the same thing). Maybe next time I'll try one fresh. An outstanding drink - however you want to classify it.

Thick murky amber pour with a thin head that disappeared quickly. Smells delicious, with aromas of hops and fresh dough. Tastes surprisingly sweet with white grapes and orange liquor; a little hoppy, grapefruit bitterness to balance it out. Nice alcohol burn as it goes down but not what you would expect from such a high ABV. Almost like a 90 minute with extra kick. Viscous mouthfeel; probably the thickest beer I've tasted with little carbonation. Really good beer and more docile than I expected. Still only drinking one though. I'd put it there with Samichlaus as one of the more unique beers I have tasted.

Pours a hazy copper with a white foam head. Aroma is very boozy, with citrus, floral, and earth hops coming through, as well as caramel malts. Flavor is boozy, sweet caramel, and citrus hops. Has a smooth, full body, syrupy. Quite good - a hybrid barleywine/double IPA.

Pours a hazy golden orange color with a medium off white head that left some nice lacing rings around the glass. The aroma is more sweet than hoppy. The most dominant aroma is alchohol with some faint pine and citrus notes. There is quite a bit of warming as you drink this beer, the alcohol is very noticeable. The flavor is very sweet again more so than hoppy. The alcohol is also very dominant in the flavor as well.

Bottle from Sprout's: Poured a dense raw golden honey hue that was murky while the head was a foamy layer that quickly bubbled down. Aroma is strong in malt and reminds me how a barleywine smells. Earthy hops are picked up as well and some minor scents of fruit such as dried peach or apricot chips finish my nose off. The drink is strong and delivers a high level of alcohol immediately. Flavor is sweet and bitter yet has tastes of apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and a drop of soy sauce or fish sauce finishes it up. Had this before, but was so wasted I couldn't even write about. So glad they put bottles out again in my humble corner of the U.S.

Clear pale copper color served in a wine glass on draft. Aroma is hot alcohol and resiny hops. Overwhelmed by the alcohol. Thick mouthfeel and a barley wine esque maltiness. Sweeter finish with sticky cloying mouthfeel. I don’t really like this if evaluated as an IPA. Even as a barley wine, it is not well balanced and very caramelly

From bottle thanks to George! Almost clear golden color with white head. Malty aroma, sweet, caramel, bread, alcohol, resinous. Sweet and light bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

butelkowany 14/09/2017. W aromacie mega słodowy, karmel, skórka pomarańczy i chmiele. Smak: susz owocowy (?) na skórce pomarańczy, karmel, słodowy, gęsty, oleisty, z konkretną ziołową goryczką, aczkolwiek nie zalegającą, alkohol grzeje, ale tylo i wyłącznie po pewnym czasie w przełyku i żołądku, w zasadzie smakuje jak ostro nachmielony barley wine, tylko nie susz z czerwonych owoców, a z dodatkiem syropu pomarańczowego. Niezwykłe doświadczenie. Oryginalne piwo i moim zdaniem obowiązkowe dla każdego beergeek'a do spróbowania bo warto!

Deep gold color, crystal clear, lacy. Full body, rich, silky, hot alcohol burn, dense in flavor, lingering palate. Sweet, some bitterness following it and preventing it from being cloying. Yeasty, alcoholic flavor, reminds me of Bourbon. Not as extreme as I feared, IBUs totally diguised by sweetness. Still, hard not to like it. - ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy dark orange color with off-white head. Aroma has bittersweet dried orange peel and boozy orange liquor. Taste starts bittersweet with piney hops and orange peel but then the booze kicks in and burns your throat and insides. Medium body and carbonation. It has classic IPA flavors but with the alcohol overwhelming everything. Really difficult to drink.
