COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

Poured into a Chimay chalice. Dark brown with a thick inch of foam that seems to last forever. When I first put the glass to my nose all I could smell was green apple, wonderful. The taste is just amazing. Carmel, dark fruit some green apple. Had to describe. Mouthfeel is medium with lots of carbonation. Halfway through the glass and there’s still a quarter inch of foam. This may be one of the best beers I’ve ever had. Simply amazing.

Fruchtig malziges Aroma mit einem Schuss Hefe. Setzt sich im Geschmack fort. Es kommen angenehme Aromen von Brot und leicht abgebranntem Karamell hinzu ohne zu bitter zu werden. Malzig süß ist dann der mittellange Anhang mit einer feinen Röstnote zum Schluss.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2017 Aromas of yeast, malt,little bit of cherry liqueur, some marzipan. Taste of yeast, caramel, some dates, some cheries, burned sugar and slightly alcoholic. Balanced bitter-sweet aftertaste. Very well hidden abv.

330ml bottle. Pours dark brown colour, hazy, off-white head. Aroma of molasses, nuts, toffee, raisins, bread, alcohol. Taste is malty, sweet, raisins, toffee, boozy. Some roastiness, bread, alcohol in aftertaste. Medium + bodied, average carbo. It's not bad at all, but definitely overrated. Booze kills it for me.

Ma sporo ciala, calkiem slodkie. Alkohol swietnie ukryty, calkiem geste. Goryczka srednia, wysycenie tez. Bardzo fajnie piwo, wszystkie nuty sa jednoczesnie jest grzeczne i delikatne a z drugiej bardzo przyjemne i smaczne.

Poważne, mocne, rozgrzewające i dające w czapę piwo, które broni się nawet przed piwnymi belgofobami. W quadruplach wskakuje do tych klasztornych trunków jakieś "dotknięcie ducha św.", drożdżowe potworki ładnieją, przyobleczone w kandyzowaną słodycz i moc aromatów. Szanuję, choć nie kocham.
