COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

This quadrupel Abt pours a gorgeous dark ivory colour with a quickly disapating head that sits perfectly over over beer in a white froth of bubbles for the entire consumption of the beer. The beer has a perfect mix of flavor with hints of grains, vanilla and nuts with none of them overwelming the palate. The flavor lingers while you enjoy!

Large bottle from the LCBO from maybe 6-7 years ago, been in the cellar. Have had this beer many, many times, but apparently never rated it until now. This is my favourite of the St. Bernadus beers. Warm brown with a tan head. Huge aroma of grape bubblegum, malt, toffee, caramel. Smooth and slick. Tastes of grape bubble gum, malt, caramel, toffee.

Taste plum, fig, dates, prunes, burnt candy sugar & light toasted toast. Light bodied, well carbonated, alcohol burn . The finish is boozy with more plum, fig, prunes & dates & a growing dryness.

Ciemnobrązowe, nieprzezroczyste piwo z niezłą pianą. Aromat owocowy głównie rodzynki i śliwki, trochę słodu. W smaku lekko słodkie czuć ciemne owoce plus rodzynki, posmak chleba. Dobrze zabalansowane piwo. Bardzo dobry quadruple

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2017 Dark brown/red. Aroma dominated by figs, dates and some yeastiness. Taste follows the same track with a fantastic balance between fruit, malt and at the end soft sweetness with a touch of bitterness. A fantastic beer!

To się pije z nieskrywaną przyjemnością. Fajny zapach - owoce, rodzynki, drożdże. W smaku bardzo przyzwoite, alkoholu w zasadzie nie czuć. Bardzo dobre piwo.

scrooloose (11) - SOUTH AFRICA - NOV 28, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2017 330ml bottle. Pours a dark brown murky liquid, as could be expected of an abbey beer. Lasting creamy beige head, fine carbonation with yeast flocculant in suspension. Nose: Banana, molasses, nutty, caramel. Flavour: Molasses, dark malt, roasted coffee, bitter orange, chocolate. Palate: Full bodied, creamy, sweet, banana, warming alcohol bite. Finish: Lingering bitterness from malt, banana, nutty Incredibly complex, a remarkable example of just why abbey beers are so revered.
