4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Cloudy amber color with a thick tan head. Nice lacing.
Aroma: Lovely balanced sweet fruity and malty.
Palate: Medium to full body. A bit sweet and some bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Plum fruity, light acidic, some spices and a fine mild malty background.
Overall impression: What can you say that is not said before about this outstanding classy and complex beer? I am going to buy a lot more. Amazed!.
Personal stats: Bottle from Slijterij t Fust in Hoorn, Netherlands.
Perhaps my favorite Abby dubbel . I would have to taste tested against chimay red first. Creamy and effervescent with notes of raisin and spice perhaps a touch of banana. It only came in the 750 mill bottle. By the time you drink the bottle it taste pretty damn good.
Tried it again not so keen on it anymore. A decent brew but why bother when there are quads?

Backlog, Many bottles over the years, This one was in 2011. Pours an amber brown with creamy 2-3 finger head. Nose and flavor are belgian candy sugar, malt, plum, clove, banana, fig, and other typical belgian ale notes. Malty finish with light warming in the chest. Pours a hazy light brown with average carbonation and a big pillowy white head which quickly dissipates. Aromas of bananas, some spice, dark berry fruits, roasted malt, caramel and rich alcohol. Taste is rich, bold fruitiness with caramel and toffee which is well balanced by hop bitterness. A great example of a Dubbel. Bacchus66 (772) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 24, 2017
330ml bottle at The Trappe Door. Pours chocolate brown with a fat off-white head that eventually fades to a persistent cap. Dark malt, yeast, cereal, round citrus flavors, dark fruit, burnt sugar. Light-medium carb, full bodied. Keeps changing as the glass empties. Delicious. jice (385) - Grenoble, FRANCE - AUG 24, 2017
Les notes suffisent, trop difficile d’en faire un description, les autres le font mieux que moi. J’ai passé un très bon moment à la déguster, c’est tout ce qui compte!

Caramel, tea, even a hint of chocolate, pumpkin maybe, beautifully balanced like you’d come to expect from St. B, not a blowout like like #12 but nice enough Mister_Li (1479) - GERMANY - AUG 20, 2017
Trübes, dunkles Bernstein mit reichlich cremigen Schaum. Malzig, Karamell, Röstaromen, etwas Kakao, fruchtig, Waldbeeren, leicht trocken. geolgau (361) - Cluj-Napoca, ROMANIA - AUG 12, 2017
Aroma is a bit shy, but as it heats, it grows: fruity and roasty with roasted malts, milk chocolate, roasted walnuts, dry earthiness, pu-erh tea. Taste is balanced, not too sweet, not too alcoholic. Sweet malts, spices, dark fruits, nice alcohol burn, dark medicinal teas, caramel. Very nice dubbel. wilde_joost59 (220) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 5, 2017
Shared a bottle at home with Rabo. Nice brown color. Taste was very smooth, good. The aftertaste was a bit disappointing.
