4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Wow, this is a flavorful beer! With a dark hazy brown color and a slightly sour smell it has a rich and a vibrant flavor with grainy aspects and a full body. IT lingers for a while and leaves you coming back for more. One of the best of the best, after all it is a Belgian beer....
0,33l bottle. Very hazy chocolate brown colour with medium lasting fluffy tan head. Aroma: Hazelnut, walnut, almond with milk chocolate and liqurish berries and black olive notes. Taste: Hm. Very thick sweet malty start with lots nuts, chocolate with sourish yeast tones and a very slight soft bitter mouthfeel. Has a creamy, soft texture with a pleasing warming feel. Full body with soft carbonation. Long fruity, softly bitter, slightly sour and a little bit dry finish. This is a master craft! ANZUShophunter (498) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - SEP 24, 2017
From bottle in Belgian ale glass. Pours reddish brown with a billowing head, yeast particulates and aroma of brown sugar, cherries and malt. Taste is malt driven with a bit of sweetness in the finish. TomHendriksen (644) - NETHERLANDS - SEP 23, 2017
Fles gedeeld door LiekevdV, thuis geprobeerd. Het is een donkerbruin bier met weinig schuim. Het heeft een moutige gebrande geur. De smaak is zacht, moutig, gebrand en een beetje chocolade. IOzh (189) - Kyiv, UKRAINE - SEP 22, 2017
330ml bottle. Pours deep brown with medium beige head. Aroma of plums, malts, dark fruits, yeast, clove. Medium body with soft carbonation. Taste is light sweet, medium bitter. Nice higgsbison (257) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 21, 2017
Perhaps my favorite Abby dubbel . I would have to taste tested against chimay red first. Creamy and effervescent with notes of raisin and spice perhaps a touch of banana. It only came in the 750 mill bottle. By the time you drink the bottle it taste pretty damn good.
Tried it again not so keen on it anymore. A decent brew but why bother when there are quads?

Backlog, Many bottles over the years, This one was in 2011. Pours an amber brown with creamy 2-3 finger head. Nose and flavor are belgian candy sugar, malt, plum, clove, banana, fig, and other typical belgian ale notes. Malty finish with light warming in the chest. Pours a hazy light brown with average carbonation and a big pillowy white head which quickly dissipates. Aromas of bananas, some spice, dark berry fruits, roasted malt, caramel and rich alcohol. Taste is rich, bold fruitiness with caramel and toffee which is well balanced by hop bitterness. A great example of a Dubbel. Bacchus66 (786) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 24, 2017
330ml bottle at The Trappe Door. Pours chocolate brown with a fat off-white head that eventually fades to a persistent cap. Dark malt, yeast, cereal, round citrus flavors, dark fruit, burnt sugar. Light-medium carb, full bodied. Keeps changing as the glass empties. Delicious. jice (385) - Grenoble, FRANCE - AUG 24, 2017
Les notes suffisent, trop difficile d’en faire un description, les autres le font mieux que moi. J’ai passé un très bon moment à la déguster, c’est tout ce qui compte! saintbase2 (833) - Bydgoszcz, POLAND - AUG 23, 2017
