4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2012 Final beer of a very thankful and loaded night - this has lots to live up to, by golly. Aroma - mmm. Best yeast I have ever smelled in an impy. Nice dark chocolate with coffee roast. Great appearance of darkness with incredible head and retention; very good lacing also. Flavor - oh geez. This is just so. Best beer night of my life. I get Stone Double Bastard, and then this? Has God blessed me this much? Blends all the best coffee characteristics of their Java with all the richness and licorice and complexity of their Kalamazoo. w00ters. NEARLY at the Founders Breakfast Stout, methinks, if not quite at the *@&$ level of Goose Island Bourbon. Blind taste testing someday plz? RE-RATE: At the level of Founders. Would be hard-pressed to decide between the two. ANOTHER RE-RATE: It was not quite at the level of Founders. Little heavy on the palate. Still a phenomenal beer.
Madrid (6) - - JUL 8, 2017 does not count

Bottle from de Fles Winkel. Very dark with Brown head. Smells like boozy chocolate raspberry and play doh. Chocolate, moderate bitterness, with some smooth sweetness. MarcoBasile (415) - DENMARK - JUL 2, 2017
Pours deep deep brown. Looks totally black in the glass. Nicely lacing tan head.
Aroma of caramelized malts, bitter coffee, dark chocolate. Warming alcoholic presence.
Taste is sweet, roasty smooth cappuccino coffee, cocoa nibs, malts and medium to intense charred bitterness in the finish. Lovely balance between sweet and bitter. Warming.
Oily mouthfeel, medium to full body, soft carbonation. tanel025 (125) - ESTONIA - JUL 2, 2017
Black beer with very little brown head. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is chocolate, cocoa, alcohol, malt, coffee. Very long cocoa aftertaste with bitterness from alcohol. Excellent beer!

Had it next to the alesmith speedway which was a little better. This one has more heat and maybe oats.

Dobre piwo, ale niczego nie urywa. Mocno wytrawne i kawowe. Ładna piana, fajnie gęste. Ale ot taki zwykły RIS. Hermod (7841) - Vantaa, FINLAND - JUN 10, 2017
355ml bottle @ Pudel.
Poured pitch black with a thin brown head.
Dark fruity, dark chocolate, ashy aroma, wood quite much.
Flavor has dark chocolate, roasted malt, ash, tobacco, wood. Sweet finish, lingering long chocolate finish. Long warming finish. Slow sipper.

Tried on tap for the first time, lives up the the hype. Nothing in this beer is too dominate and every flavor blends well. A fantastic stout that almost seems too simple, but keep drinking and you'll keep finding more in this beer.

Flaska. Svart med ett gulbeigt skum. Dofter av kaffe, choklad och lakrits. Smakinslag av kaffe, choklad, alkohol, aska och rostad malt. Oljig munkänsla, fyllig kropp.
