COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Starting with six different hop varietals added to the brew kettle & culminating with a massive dry-hop addition of Simcoe hops, Bell’s Hopslam Ale possesses the most complex hopping schedule in the Bell’s repetoire. Selected specifically because of their aromatic qualities, these Pacific Northwest varieties contribute a pungent blend of grapefruit, stone fruit, and floral notes. A generous malt bill and a solid dollop of honey provide just enough body to keep the balance in check, resulting in a remarkably drinkable rendition of the Double India Pale Ale style.

On pour this is a clear amber colored beer with some carbonation, an off white colored head and some lacing. The beauty of this beer is in the bouquet. It is noticeable right from the start. Blood orange, apricot, grapefruit, a touch of pineapple, floral hops and an ever present scent of amber waves of grain! My nose wouldn’t get out of the way, for me to taste this beer! The palate is a symphony of fruit and bitterness that yields a balanced yet hoppy yet high alcohol double IPA. There is a touch of pine on mouth as well. The alcohol only shows up in the final movement of this symphony in my rosy cheeks.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2017 Just awesome. The honey adds the perfect touch to the immense amount of hops in this beer.

Canned, 355 ml at The Raven Cafe, Prescott, AZ. Pours cloudy orange, white head. Strong hoppiness, pine, citrus, grapefruit, malty, some sweetness, strong lasting bitter finish. Medium+ bodied. Nice one.

Amazing beer. Not too taxing on the palate, but with a good strong hop flavor and aroma. Strong citrus notes. Drink it fresh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Piwo ze styczniowego rozlewu, więc nie pierwszej świeżości. Mimo to jest powalające. W aromacie intensywnie owocowo. Ananas, brzoskwinie i cytryna. Piwo niemal klarowne. W smaku słodko gorzko. Spora goryczka, ale nie zalega. Mega pijalne. Topowe. Mniam. Jest ciało 🍻

The beer’s got a great look: orange/light amber with a bubbly head. Even though it’s an older can at this point in the year, the moment I cracked it open the aromas from those Northwest hops exploded out. Dominant floral aromas, raisins and a boozy note to finish things off. It’s also got a bit of a bready aroma in there too, which is surprising to pick up in a DIPA. Overall, it’s a deep, complex beer that held up over the last few months nicely. It’s in the ballpark of a Pliney.

Can. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and pine aroma with tropical fruit. Summer fruit and grapefruit flavor with light pine. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Pine and grapefruit lingers with summer fruit and light malt backing. Honey slightly noticeable.

Can shared. Pours amber with white head. Aroma is honey, sugar, candy floss. I would imagine this is a bit older as hops have died a bit. Flavour is a thick caramel sweet with a wet honey finish. Smooth and still a good beer.

Pours gold with a frothy white head that holds well; rich passion and mango fruit aromas; oily and bitter palate with a nice finish. My favorite DIPA.

Potent resinous hop aroma. Syrupy rich mouthfeel. Caramel malt sweetness goes well against the hop bitterness. More resinous and herbal hop flavors on the palate

Hazed golden with a sudsy white head. Fantastic hop complexity, almost a sweet and sour aroma. Sweet with a medium body, sticky hop intensity and a bite of a bite at the end. Notes: cans from VA.
