4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a deep, dark amber with a thick and frothy beige head. Very appealing and complex aroma, with raisin, licorice, plum, apple, caramel, pine, and some chocolate undertones. The fruity aspects stand out most here. The taste, while really not what I was expecting, is very good as well. It is quite roasted. Big on caramel, coffee, chocolate, and pine. I still get the darker fruits underneath these dominant flavors. Contains an impressive hoppy kick that is very much like an IPA. Aftertaste is caramel, coffee, and lots of pine. More of a medium body here with a texture that is sticky. Alcohol content becomes apparent quickly and settles in very nicely. This beer really is something else. It feels like a blend of different styles that are all made up extremely well. Each sip gives a different impression to me. And the transition from the nose to the taste is wonderful. If you want to impress your friends, make them try this one.
It pours dark brown and has a light brown head. Head retention is low. It has a high aroma of malt and chocolate. There are some moderate plum aromas It has a light earthy element and some wood. There are also a bit of molasses notes. The are many rich malt flavors that include toffee, molasses, and bread. There are also some plum notes and chocolate with a bit of wood. It has a full body that is not quite chewy, but is thick on the palate. The carbonation is low. There is a pleasant alcohol warming element as well. Overall, there are a lot of malt flavors with some supporting elements in the back ground highlighted by chocolate, bread, toffee, and molasses with a strong plum character. Bottle from Oslo airport duty free - thanks Rachel! A blockbuster beer which I opened with great anticipation. Pours a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Rich, malty aroma with velvety dried fruits on the nose. Lots of dried fruit and date flavours with notes of caramel, chocolate, leather, tobacco, booze and vanilla. Very strong, very sweet and very bitter. The taste is massive and really fills the mouth. The bitterness would be too powerful if it was not offset by the caramel sweetness. There is a slightly harsh quality in the aftertaste, but otherwise, this is a one of the best beers that I have tasted. Learninbeer (625) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - SEP 8, 2017
Bottle roughly 10 years old. The aroma is malt, caramel, dates and licorice. Pours a dark golden brown with minimal tan head, mostly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is a little sweet then a little bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation soft and the finish long. Very Good, was scared it wouldn't hold up for this long, very good flavors, hints of chocolate, coffee, some licorice and vanilla. oberschlesier (121) - Kattowitz, UPPER SILESIA, - AUG 27, 2017

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2017 Po 2 latach jak nie dłużej doczekało się swojej chwili. Smak ułożony w dobrą stronę, pełny złożony i leciutko grzejący. Goryczka średnia, przyjemna dająca kontrę do słodkiego pomarańczowo pralinkowego smaku i aromatu. Wysycenie średnie barwa ciemno-złota. Idealnie dojrzałe piwo z fantastycznie schowanym alkoholem i złożonym smakiem.

In USA known as barley wine in EU as DIPA.
I get it as barley wine, namely pours deep redish brown, slightly clear with fluffy dissipating light brown/ beige head. Aroma: malts with notes of toffee, caramel, white bread, milk chocolate, red and dark fruit esters....flavor follows aroma: malts character with notes mentioned by aroma, supported with dark, red fruit like esters, pine, spicy, fruity (actually orange marmelade) like hop character and gentle alcohol warmth. Slightly dry, bitter finish. Full body, smooth texture, moderate carbonation. GeorgePratt (83) - Stockport, Cheshire, ENGLAND - AUG 1, 2017
