Pours a dirty amber with some sediment. Aroma is tart cherries, butterscotch, biscuit. Flavor is nice and tart with a nice cherry flavor. Finish is bittersweet. Overall very nice and well rounded. I find this oddly refreshing.

375ml bottled 02/2017, merci BA-beersnake shared at Freiburg August Deluge Tasting 2017. - What a revelation to have this on standby after De Garde’s young&green Pinot Noire US-lambic style: a by now much anthologised US Oud Bruin, pinot noire barreled. Label mentions a min. barreling age of 9-15 months. - - - Lovely thick oaky vanilla nose, adding spicy umami to a mild version of more familiar Vlaams Oud Bruin lacto tartness, including mushroom. Taste is smooth (!) like silky Spätburgunder molecularly infused with a subtle dose of earthy umami champignons. Fruity Tartness of both sweet and sour cherries with lacto edges builds around the umami grapeflesh, remaining well-behaved, gastronomic and not a pornographic end in itself, like in so many other US sours. Slight residual sweetness andstickiness, like the residual sugars of sweet cherry in buttermilk, going on supreme strawberries-and-cream deliciousness. - In parts this is a luxury version of a very good Oud Bruin and one of few US sours my Belgian-socialised palate/enamel agrees with.

Sweetness of the cherry comes out in the nose. Long bitter after-taste. Brown and fresh. The malty nature of the brown ale does a great job rounding out the sour. Wow. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish purple pour, smaller head, no lacing. Aroma of fruit, red wine, lactic sourness, jam. Jammy up front, sour cherries, sour, tart, red wine, light sweetness as well. Medium body, lower carbonation.

PanMarek (460) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 25, 2017
Reddish brown pour with thick foam and lots of bubbles. Complex, earthy nose with fruits, including apple and cherry along with some faint caramel malt. Taste is even more complex, with the fruit sweetness and some tartness from the wine barrels, linked by the sour cherries. The yeast gives it a musty, earthiness and perhaps helps lighten the body. Little carbonation, medium body and a slightly dry finish.

Pours copper, clear with a little haze. Sour, malty aroma features scents of apple cider and purple grape. Really pleasant smell. Tart, sour taste. Lemon juice. Bitter. Metallic. Fresh, kettle-style sour mixed with a substantial, barrel-aged quality. Perfectly executed. Frothy in the palate. Really good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Where and how : mini tasting, bottle Vintage xxxml
Aroma 7.2 /10
Plenty of barrel character that clashes with brett yeast. A bit of mess. Fruity cherry on side.
Appearance 3/5
Top: smaller fizzy of white top.
Base: dark amber.
Palate medium bodied, low carbonation, very long finish3/5
Taste complex, clash of barrel, sour cherry and yeast. Mild alcohol notes. I fail to see the greatness of this beer. Creative mess ?

Beautiful complex stone fruit-mostly cherries-on the nose, true sourness on the palate. I'd like a touch more sweetness-and maybe alcohol to balance the sourness, but hard to complain. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Russian River, Santa Rosa. Aroma is huge Bretty barnyard funk, fruits, oak, wine, pinot barrels, tart cherries, malt, apricot, tart red fruits. Flavour is tart and medium sour. Body is medium. Amazing balance and drinkability. Superb American Sour, world class status well-deserved. Incredible, I wish I had bought more bottles!
