COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Raspberry lambic was once a rarity and only produced for a few weeks during the summer. Frank Boon was the first brewer to again prepare a raspberry lambic in the summer of 1976. More than 300 grams per liter of fresh raspberries give Framboise Boon a fresh fruity taste. The young lambic supports the flavor. But this is very much about raspberries, not the lambic. Of course we do not use artificial flavorings, only real raspberries. Boon Framboise has an alcohol volume of 5%. Drink it when it is young.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2011 My first fruit lambic!! Bottle, 37.5 cl. Deep red color, with a small pink head. The immediate aroma is fresh raspberries wrapped in sweet caramel-ish aromas. Sweet lambic jesus this smells good! In my mouth the body is medium to full, Id say. Flavor is very much like the aroma, with wonderful fresh raspberries with delightful notes of caramel, slightly sour, but with sweet edges. Quickly, as I swallow, the expected sourness really comes through, refreshing and very very very pleasant! The sourness continues into the finish, leaving my mouth full of raspberry flavors, tartness and sour goodness! Wow. There are other flavors here besides the raspberry, but Im not sure what they are, since Im relatively new to the world of sour ales, but the raspberry flavors definitely dominate. The stuff in the background makes me think of a barnyard and such, but its very faint. Also, hints of lemon.

Overall: I think this is just spectacular! And its probably not even the best fruit/raspberry lambic out there! Wow!

Keg at Craft Beer Rising. A hazy red colour with a medium pink head. Aroma of raspberry, oak, some wood tanins, a hint of farmyard and a hint of vinegar. Taste of sharp raspberry, lemon, some oak, slight red grape, a hint of vinegar and subtle jam. Medium bodied and a slick texture. A dry but tart raspberry finish. A good lambic, as they should taste. Prefer the kriek but this is sharp, slightly acidic but smooth.

Bottle of the 2011 Ive been ageing, originally from Utobeer. Cork pops out of the bottle with no carbonation. Dark pinkish red, browning with age, slight white bubbly head which dissipates to nothing. Nose is like raspberry jam. sticky jam sweetness, slight tart and sour, little damp cellar. Taste is raspberry jam, minerals, damp cellar. Mouthfeel is a little thin.

Very unspectacular, mostly raspberry sirup with light acidity and sweetness.

Bottle from the Three Horseshoes, Stapleford. Red, translucent with a little bit of pink head around the rim. No surprise about the aroma: fresh raspberry abounds with slight notes of lemon peel, champagne vinegar and a metallic note. Tart taste, which concentrates on the fruit but theres more than a suggestion of the sprightly lambic underneath. Sweet-sour interplay in the finish. Nicely carbonated, I can forgive the thin body considering the mega-raspberry fizz on the tongue. Extraordinary.
